I can’t visit

My wonderful partner had a beautiful green burial. We all said that we’d go back, visit his grave, have a picnic there. Today is the anniversary of him dying. I haven’t been back, I feel I will break down if I do. Is this unusual?

Hi @Bonnie3
Everyone. Is different in how they cope with grief . It was my 1 anniversary of my husband’s passing last week . It was a difficult day . You must do what ever feels right for you to get through the day .
Thinking of you

Do what you feel you can.

There can be no judgement, your grief, you own it.

I’ve been trying to stop myself crying, but when i was on the phone to a bereavement helpline today the lady said crying releases brain chemicals that calm the mind and body. I didn’t know whether to believe this but when i checked its true. I now no longer want to stop myself crying.

Try to tell us of one of your happy times, before your world became sad together.

Today you will be wiped out. It is so destroying.

Completely wrong!

Go gentle x

Mandy used to be a chef, every birthday she would bake the most wonderful cake, and her lemon meringue pie was simply amazing. She put so much effort into bdays and xmas, they were loads of fun!

Bitter taste now no doubt!

I used to like cooking but I don’t just at the moment. Even that can bring me to my knees, as I loved cooking for him! No joy in it now!

Hi Bonnie, It was my partner’s 1st anniversary last Saturday. I went with my sister to put flowers on his grave, thankfully the sun was shining so we stayed for a while. There was a prayer service in his church later. I think you should do whatever you think you can cope with. To be honest standing there looking at the headstone feels surreal at times. I was ok on the day but I m not good now. Reality bites! Take care.
