I’m 23 and I lost my mum to Parkinson’s disease four years ago. She loved me so much and I just wish I knew for certain she knew how much I loved her. When she was ill I was a teenager so was having some typical angst and I just wish I’d been older when she died so I was more understanding and mature to deal with the illness and her death. She hated having her photo taken so I don’t even have photos of us together except from when I’m a toddler and one where I’m like 12? I just really want to have one last conversation or even just one hug as I hadn’t even seen her for a few months when she passed because of my dad and i’s bad relationship. I know people will say she knew I loved her but I can’t know that for sure and it’s awful. Sorry for the ramble I didn’t know what to say.

Hello @sourmelon,
Thank you for reaching out. I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. You’re not alone. I’m not sure if you’ve had a look through our Loss as a young adult category yet. But there you can connect with other members who experienced the loss of their mum and who will understand some of what you’re going through.
You might also want to check out Let’s Talk About Loss. They run peer-led groups for 18 - 35 year olds. You can find your local group on their website:
We also have some information on our Losing a parent page which may be helpful, too
I’m sure someone will be along to share their thoughts, but I just wanted to share these resources with you and let you know that you’ve been heard.
Take care,
Alex
