That’s exactly what’s Simon worry was. Me being left on my own and having to cope. Sending hugs.
Rammie, its an awful feeling isnt it? Lots of love to you. The support on this group is lovely ![]()
Hi Kate78, yes i do fully empathise with that. It’s a hard one to shake off. I know i haven’t yet.
Hi Stansbabe, yes, fully get that. I’m grateful she went first because i know without me no way would she have coped. So that helps a bit if you can understand that. I know if she’d known she was going she would’ve worried about me being without her but thankfully it didn’t happen that way. It’s a hard guilt of failure to get past for sure. I’d always did my best to help, support & make her life easy. Dealing with all the difficult stuff for her, so she didn’t have too but yes at the last hurdle failed.
Hi everyone
I lost Frances end of may 2022, it is still very raw. Tried to work in garden, which was Frances pride and joy, just the sight of her tools brings the tears flooding. I seem to be unable to move on even taking it day by day is very hard. I miss her so much ever second of every day.
So sorry to hear this. Its so hard isnt it? Little things can set me off but the garden on a sunny day breaks my heart even more than its already broken. We were always out there together and its hard to unsee that.
I hope you find this group helpful as I certainly do. Thinking of you . Big hugs
@Ally7
Oh, I am so sorry and sad for you, I don’t really know what to say.
I lost my daughter 21 years ago and she was 22 years old. I had my husband to lean on and he , like myself was devastated as she was our only child.
Nine months ago I lost my husband and my whole life has collapsed , I totally understand when you said the grief is back ten fold.
I am going forward slowly but surely, even though I have sisters and good friends I feel so alone.
I think you are right, just take things day by day.
Sending love xx
For some reason i aleays find weekends the worst. I can empathise with both of you about working in the garden. I still feed the birds cos that was her thing, she loved it. It gave her immense pleasure & yes i loved the birds too but it was her thing. The job she loved to do, filling the feeders & putting out bread. We’d do the big garden bird watch together whike having a cuppa. It’s hard for any of that to have the same enjoyment for me know, it really doesn’t. I do it cos i know she’d be unhappy if i didn’t.
For me Sundays are the worst. I always hated Sundays when he was alive. Now I truly loath them. Odd. I have been retired since 2005. You would think there would be little difference. Sundays are the days he would give me extra hugs as he new I felt down. That is what I really really miss. Those hugs.
I know just how you feel I lost my partner of 45 years in April .
I feel I don’t want to live without him and can’t go past any of the places we always were . It’s unbearable and I feel totally devasted
I have a friend who is a nurse and she told me feeling guilty is part of the grieving process .
I feel guilty that I couldn’t save my partner .
