I lost both my parents this year within 6 months. I have put their house up for sell and I have been trying to find a company to handle all their stuff. I had one person come by today and take a look and she was going to send me a quote but instead sent me an email saying she and he family could has the stuff. I got really upset and angry at this, I felt like a company who is being hired to do an estate clear out should be professional and not be looking to buy stuff for their own personal needs. I’ve found a lot of people asking for stuff and while some of it doesn’t bother me others do as they almost expect it to be given to them.
I’m having a hard time going to the house. Everytime I do I get upset and am angry and not myself. Is this normal ?
I too lost both parents within 6 months of each other. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, especially in the first year while you’re trying to sort everything as well.
It’s heartbreaking and every time I go to their home, every week as it’s up for sale, I feel incredibly sad.
After we’d taken sentimental items and sold things we could, we got quotes for a house clearance. We had to pay for them to take everthing, and realistically we don’t know what they do with it all - they could sell it , keep it, who knows. In reality they could be making a lot of profit from what they take. I tried to remain practical about it, the house needed clearing and I’d done as much as I could myself and the rest needed to just go, regardless of who to, where or why.
I hope the good memories of times gone by can eventually bring you some peace
Thank you for sharing your experience with me. Sounds like you experienced the same thing. Week after week I go and it just seems so hard and I get so mad with people who only want stuff.
