Saturday’s are difficult and if I don’t keep busy I have unwanted memories of her final hours. I’ve been getting through this by bird watching, which surprises me even as I type it. Saturday’s are spent at RSPB nature reserves. It gets me out of the house and out of my head. Even if it does take a while.
Sunday rolls round and I was up early and out to scatter Paula’s ashes at a place we both loved. More memories, happy ones that somehow hurt.
I’ve been stuck in my head all day and struggling to get out of it.
In general frustration at myself I left the house earlier to go for a walk. Grabbing my binoculars as I left with no real intention of using them.
20 minutes out, still trapped in my head, a red kite flew overhead within a few meters of me. This snapped me right out of my head. The kite the spent a good 10 minutes patrolling the valley below the hill I was on. It was beautiful !
This has lifted my mood dramatically. Ordinarily I would bore Paula with this.
Hi @Twoflower
Being out in nature is good for our wellbeing. I like watching the birds, I never been to a bird reserve . As I don’t drive these places aren’t easy to get to . I have seen Red Kites when I was on holiday in Scotland. I hope you have a peaceful evening.
I had never seen a Red Kite over my garden before then last year after my Vic passed and my brother was with me on one particular Tuesday it appeared above us. This happened also on my first sole walk without him I like to think it’s his spirt saying you’re doing ok. I told my family about this and this is what my nephews wife wrote to me?
I read this about the red kite….
‘One of the most profound spiritual meanings associated with the red kite is that of transformation and renewal. The Red Kite undergoes an incredible journey of growth, much like the human soul’s evolution. From its humble beginnings as a vulnerable hatchling, the red kite matures into a powerful and majestic predator. This journey mirrors the human experience of embracing change and undergoing personal metamorphosis.’
‘Native Americans saw these birds as the Great Creator’s window on our world or as messengers between the world above and ours below.’
As you say, perhaps it is Vic saying well done! We know that’s what he would be saying He’d be astonished at your courage and bravery in facing your grief and trying to imagine your new life
Me either, never seen a red kite. never heard before, I had to Google image to find out it is a such beatiful bird!
I am not that lucky being able to walk alone. I am disabled. That is most worry thing for my hubby when he passed away. I told him I was going to OK. But he worried anyway as he always had been since I had a stroke.
I promised him I would look after our beautiful house, beautiful garden that we both love so much. At weenends, I tirelessly wok in the garden, look after his favourite plants. They are doing so well. I often find myself saying, ‘ look Dugi, they are beautiful!’ then I wish he could be here admiring the flowers, trees with me. That makes me miss him even more…

Actually science might not say ‘nope’. I’m reading a book titled ‘Quantum Physics and Spirituality’ and a lot of weird things happen in quantum physics!
There is definitely hope.
@RJay Yes, I have read such as well, The Tao of Physics..but if one asks about spirit w/out bodily, physical connections you will be told no. I simply do not know, but I believe my husband haunted me for about a year.
You do not have to leave your garden to watch beautiful birds. I spend a lot of time in the garden, especially early mornings. My favourites at the moment are the swifts but we all sorts of tits, goldfinch, bullfinch all are beautiful. Even better if you have binoculars handy. Do you have a bird feeder? That would help then they will stay where they are a while for you to watch x
@gemswinc
That’s correct, nobody really knows. So anything is possible!
If you think about the physical body, which is made up of atoms, and atoms are made of tiny particles held together by energy. The electrons spin around the nucleus giving the impression of a solid shell which is mostly empty space. I bet those tiny components of atoms are just energy anyway, so we are beings of light, just like our spirits.
My book is describing similarities between ancient wisdom and modern day quantum physics. It seems that the Egyptians / Ancient Greeks / Aztecs etc knew more than we realised.
I haven’t finished the book yet though!
They send messages like this. I’ve had so many occurrences since my spouse passed and I’ve documented most of them. Some unbelievable, even to me, who has had many experiences over the years that “woke me up.” If you acknowledge this as a message, you will get more.
Hello I’m glad you are getting out and I myself try keep busy at weekends to try not to feel sad …. I’m sure your wife will be happy your out with nature …remember robins appear when loved ones are near…. And butterflies do too. Hope you find some happiness with the birds all the best keep going
