Just had a Christmas card from a neighbour which says…Have a super fun Christmas and inside…Enjoy yourself at Christmas… Not sure where to laugh or cry!! If only Pete was here.

People just don’t think and some are arseholes in their own little bubble unfortunately. Fortunately though there are a rare few that fo care or take the time to see if you’re OK whi h gives you hope but doesn’t replace that special person or in my case beloved dog that you have lost that would always be there to bring you comfort. Thinking of you . For anyone that is grieving we juat got to get through these next few days in whatever way we can . I’ve tried to make a memorial and remember all the good memories , maybe you can try that too . Sending love to you x

It’s hard. I check the greeting in cards thinking I wouldn’t want ones that are too over the top x
Thank you Stanley, you did actually make me laugh with your description of some people!! We will get through these next few days as we don’t have a lot of choice sadly. I have lit a candle and put it by a lovely photograph of Pete so that’s my memorial to him . My thoughts and peaceful wishes to you at this time of year. We are not alone sadly.

Thank you for replying Mrs P. I know what you mean about some cards being over the top, Just wish people would stop and think when they know that you’re not in a good place. Sadly they won’t realise the heartache until they too have lost a loved one themselves. I hope you have a peaceful Christmas. Love Jenny x

Hi All
I received a card with hand written words saying “ hope 2022 is a better year for you”, saying that My soulmate passed on 8/11/21, i don’t think it could be any worse. They probably have meant well but I’d rather not have had a reminder. Another was sympathy at Christmas, again a reminder of my loss. Why would you ???
Better not to send anything at all, I’ve had a card have a fabulous Christmas, really??? It just stirs up so many emotions yet others have sent really thoughtful messages it doesn’t take much to be sensitive to others at such a difficult time xx

Yes Sharon, my sentiments exactiy, Why would you! One of the most thoughtful ones i had was from Pete’s best friend where he wrote under the Merry Christmas…Have the best one you can. I think this sums up what we’re all feeling at this time. Peaceful wishes to you. Love Jenny x

Yes Mab, you’re so right, much better not to send these meaningless cards which must make the sender feel better but the receiver a whole lot worse, and if anything like me you keep thinking about it. Peace and kind thoughts to you.
