Just having a bit of a tidy-up…..

It’s been a lonely day. I was going to sort some of his things but I know I am a bit fragile today, so I decided to stick to something safer, like a drawer full of odds and ends. There were pens, erasers, paper clips and staples, and a long flat box. I opened it expecting it to be something stationery-related. There was a piece of paper folded up. It was a note from him asking me to marry him.
Sorting his clothes would have been less painful.
Every time I screwed up he would smile and tell me to just sit on my hands and stay out of trouble.

oh sweetheart…I have no words…you must have felt like you were punched in the guts ! Two days after my husband died a voucher from him for my birthday ( a spa day ) came through the post. I felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest when I opened it and it was the saddest birthday I have ever had only 12 days after he left me. I can’t even look at the lovely cards people sent me. He should have been with me and we will never have another birthday together again.

We just keep getting punched. I guess we have to roll with the punches. Thank you for responding so kindly. Those rabbit holes are sneaky, waiting to catch us out when we least expect it, thought the most dangerous thing I found would be a staple gun, not a marriage proposal. Xx

Oh @Willow112 I dont known what to say. That must have been a real shocker for you. On the other hand (I’m sure you didn’t need it) it proves just how much he loved you. Take comfort from that, if you can.

Sending you a hug.
