Last few weeks

I’m having flash backs to my dear partner’s last few weeks. He/we had visits from the most amazing people…..our GP, Hospiscare, Marie Curie, palliative care nurse, carers…..the list goes on and on. Until he became seriously ill none of us were aware of the help that would be available. The agencies were all in touch with each other. Dear Bonnie

Firstly I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s almost a year since I lost my wonderful husband and in many ways it seems like yesterday.

Are the flashbacks causing you upset or are you finding them a comfort? If they are upsetting you I was told to imagine a blind and pull it down when the image comes into your head. Have a lovely memory to replace it with. Doing this a few times helped me. I still get them occasionally but I try to replace them with something lovely as soon as it happens.

I hope this helps. Take care x

Thank you so much for your reply Helen. At the moment the memories are not causing distress but, as they become more detailed, that might happen. I will then use that tactic to block them out. Thank you again.

Dear Bonnie from what you have said it’s coming up to a year. Do you not think, that for that reason all these flashbacks are happening.
I hope you feel more peaceful soon
wishing you all the best

Tom, a further strange thing. When I woke up this morning I felt “normal” with no anxiety at all. I hadn’t felt that calm for over a year. It’s as if I am now stable and maybe strong enough to recall all those memories.
Thank you everyone for your support. X

Well Bonnie the lack of anxiety is a definite plus. I hope your anxiety has gone for good and you feel at peace recalling memories with pleasure.
Wishing you all the best
