I know I’m not the only one to have lost someone in traumatic circumstances as I’ve seen the posts people have made on this site.
I’m really struggling with processing the trauma. It fills my every thought. I just can’t move past this I don’t want remember my partner in this way I want to be able to remember the happiness we shared together. All of us as a family. It’s been 8 weeks now since our world’s were so cruelly ripped apart. I’m still experiencing flashbacks, I have sought professional help about this but from my understanding of what I’ve been told flashbacks are the brains natural response to trauma and they will diminish in time. I’m wondering how much longer I have to survive this torture. I know there really probably isint an answer but I’m hoping that someone can relate to what I am saying and offer some type of guidance.
When I’m not experiencing flashbacks my heart breaks with excruciating pain. Every day it breaks a bit more I’m just surviving at the moment and only just.
I agree with Sherbet, I had loads of trauma, causing the nightmares of PTSD. Get some therapy and get your recovery on its way. For me, I took the route of Mindfulness, which was very successful.
Hi I too suffer from a traumatic bereavement. I’m 139 weeks and 4 days in, or 987 days. I do EMDR therapy and speak with a psychologist weekly. I still have flashbacks, the most horrific nightmares and cry endlessly.
I wish I could take it away from you, but nobody can. You have to find a new way of living, and it’s totally unfair and painful. You will at some point look back and see how far you’ve come.
Hello Fester, sounds like you have been through a lot , im so sorry for your suffering, life sure isn’t fair, when we’re left mourning our loved ones, life sure isn’t the same anymore, im glad you are receiving counseling, take care and may God bless you and your family
Hello Radlvsrip, Hello, I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my son in traumatic circumstances and I know how frightening and overwhelming the flashbacks can be.
Being assessed for therapy really helped me. I was diagnosed with PTSD and received eight months of support. It did take time for things to settle, but working with my therapist gradually lessened the flashbacks and helped me feel more able to cope.
I’m glad you’re being assessed for therapy, and I hope you receive the support and therapy that will help you. Please be gentle with yourself and take things one day at a time.
EMDR has been mentioned to me I’m waiting to see the psychiatrist. I don’t know what will be suggested but I’m open to anything really. Anything that will change what I’m currently having to navigate.
