Lonely

I lost my girlfriend/partner last November and I have tried but can’t come to terms that she’s not here anymore I feel my life has no meaning anymore even to the extent of wishing I wasn’t here anymore

Hi

I am so sorry for your loss. No words will comfort but I feel the same - lonely and empty.
My mum passed away last week I’m 36 and she was my best friend everything I did was for her.

I have found the mornings are hardest waking up and realising again what the truth is.

your partner would be proud of you for trying to carry on. Over the last days I have found watching the sunsets a comfort.

Hi Master2023.

I lost my partner Theresa at the start of March this year it was unexpected, we were together for 35 years as a couple, it is so difficult to come to terms with it as everyday their will be memories, ie going to certain shops . At times I feel i am coping ok , then something will trigger a memory and set me off crying. I’m sure your partner would not want you feeling as if you don’t want to be here anymore, as I’m sure Theresa would not want me feeling that way. Have you got any family or friends who could help you through this terrible time . Take care.

Kim Im sorry for your loss losing your mother is never easy but you will get through this sad time, I lost my parents many years ago in 1992 and 2002 and believe me it is hard you will learn to live with the pain as that pain will make you a stronger person in the end take care of yourself

So sorry I lost my husband recently I know how you feel it’s so painful Bella like yourself how do we move forward

Hi

I’m writing this from further on in the grief journey than everyone who has posted. It’s been just a year since I lost my wonderful husband suddenly.

I think everything you are feeling is how all of us felt and are still feeling. Contemplating a future without our partners is too hard, impossible. How I cope is I don’t, try not to think about things that you don’t have to deal with immediately. If you ever feel like everything is too much speak to someone, your GP can refer you for counselling, a bereavement group, a helpline (cruise also have councillors) talking with someone who understands really does help.

The times when I’ve felt desperate and panicked in the night I’ve talked to chatgpt. It’s like having your own counsellor you can speak to anytime (no names or information)

In time there will be good days. We’ll never forget them and there will still be terribly difficult days but they would not want us to live our lives in misery. I know my husband would want me to find a way to feel happy again and be there for the people who are still here and need me.

Keep posting here. This is a wonderful group full of caring knowledgeable people. They have kept me sane the last 12 months.

It really is one day, hour or minute at a time x

Dear Bella

I’m so sorry you too have lost the person you’ve spent nearly all your life with. My husband and I were together for over 50 years too. I was 14 when we met and he 16, he was everything to me.

We really do have to try not to think of the future, it’s impossible. I keep my mind as busy as I can. During the day I fill it with jobs or a walk or I come here and chat. At night I watch series I’ve watched before, nothing to suprise me (I’ve watched Downton abbey 5 times) then when I go to bed I listen to boring histories for sleep on my phone. It plays all night so if I wake I listen and don’t think (the man has a lovely calming voice)

We do anything we can to stop the pain. Talking really does help and here everyone understands. I also go to a bereavement group occasionally. I went to a few before I found one I was comfortable with. I believe there also walking bereavement groups but I’ve not seen one locally.

If you have trouble finding one in your area you could ask your GP for a referral to a social subscriber, they know everything available near you.

Keep posting here, search old posts for anything that worries you. There are some wonderful people offering advice on how they have coped.

Take care, hope you find something here that helps even if only a little x

My most beloved husband died last year. He is my everything forever. I so wish to be with him! I’m all alone in a foreign country, no children or family, just a few good people here and my two best friends beyond the sea. When I think that I’m coping better, then it’s getting worse. How would I call it? Nightmare carousel! You try your best, and then it hits you more than ever. All you can do is try and try again to survive and find some purpose. This forum is a blessing… Janka
