Looking after baby while grieving

My mum died and I’ve had to push all my grief aside to look after my baby. My partner is helping but has to go to work.

I can’t contain my emotions anymore. I feel like I’m in a black hole, helpless, about to implode. I just want to scream and cry. I’ve told my partner how I feel but he isn’t registering how desperately broken I am. I have to go back to work too. How do I get through this?

Hello @Ros3,

I’m Seaneen, one of the Online Community moderators. I’m so sorry to hear about your mum. You’re not alone. Many of our members have lost their mums and will understand some of what you’re going through.

It sounds like you’re in such a difficult situation where you have to carry on as normal when your whole world has fallen apart. @stryhappy posted this thread recently - you may relate to it. I’m not sure how long ago your mum died, but you may want to consider bereavement counselling, which can help give you a space of your own to talk through your feelings. We offer free online bereavement counselling, which is held at home via video chat. They offer evening appointments, too.

I’m sure someone will be along to offer their support, but I just wanted to share those links with you and let you know that you have been heard.

Are you lady the health visitor stage? Are you still able to contact them? :yellow_heart:

@Ros3 please do feel free to read my post and message me if it helps
