Hi everyone, just wondering how to best come to terms with my friend going into a hospice - it’s all happening quite suddenly despite ongoing treatments and diagnosis being within 2 years. Feel like I have so much in my head but. I idea what to say.
Hello @josephinejj80,
I’m Alex, and I’m part of the Online Community team. I wanted to say thank you for bravely reaching out. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend.
I’m sure someone will be along to offer their support, but I wanted to share a few resources which might be helpful right now.
- Our Supporting someone at the end-of-life pages contain practical advice for those helping someone close to death and information about what you can expect when death is near.
- Our Anticipatory grief page talks about the feelings associated with grief in the days, months or years before someone dies. This is known as anticipatory grief, as you are grieving for someone who is still alive.
I hope you find the community a good source of support to you.
Take good care - you are not alone.
Alex
Thanks Alex . I’ll take a look at the resources x
Hi Josephine, sorry to hear this. Just tell your friend what’s on your mind, be there for them as much as you can, then whatever happens you will have no regrets. xxx
Thankyou so much x we do talk openly but it’s still hard I worry how she feels - I’ve made her a photo album and a music “mix tape” which I hope will help even a little.
Hello Josephine jj80, so sorry about your friend, seems like you really care for her, just spend as much time with her as you can, if conversation is still possible it’ll naturally come to you what to say, im sure your friend just wants you there , maybe listening to.music,.together…with my husband i would play his favorite music and we would pray for him…take care of yourself and may God strengthen and comfort you and your friend.![]()
