Hello everyone. I’m new here and feel a little anxious at dipping a toe in the water, so will take a deep breath and dive in.
I lost my best friend a year ago - it was very traumatic as he died within 2 1/2 weeks of cancer diagnosis. The first anniversary is hard - I knew it would be, having lost a dear grandparent to suicide some years ago. I have found that the feelings of grief are very similar; in that the deaths were such a shock…
There are other complexities which I won’t disclose, and find myself in rather a bad place…
I know I won’t be alone with this and welcome any advice anyone can give.
Thank you in anticipation…
Hello @FSJ,
I’m so sorry to hear about your best friend. Thank you for bravely reaching out - you’re not alone.
You’ve asked for advice, so I wanted to share some resources with you. As well as the community, we offer a range of online bereavement support services that might be helpful to you. You can explore these at sueryder.org/support.
I’m sure someone will be along to offer their support, too. Please do be gentle with yourself, and keep reaching out,
Seaneen
