Losing my mom

I lost my mom Aug 23, she died of kidney failure from type 2 diabetes…I thought I was coping well, as we were renovating the house etc…but since oct 24 I just can’t get over losing her, I miss her everyday, I feel sad that she was my best friend and the only person in the world who made me feel safe…there really is nothing better than a mothers love…I just can’t be bothered with anything, I’m drinking more, I’m having panic attacks and basically just feel dead inside…I have a great life, own business, loving husband etc…but I just can’t see any light…and keep dreaming and thinking about my mom…I was with her when took her last breath, at the time I was ok with that as she had been in so much pain…I was away on holiday when she got rushed into hospital and could not get back straight away…I was not prepared for what the dr said when she said my mom was on end of life as there was nothing more they could do for her…she was a strong woman and she still believed on the last day/hours that she was going to get better and come home…I had to tell that it was going to happen…I just feel so sad and relive the conversations everyday…I know I need help but just do not know where to go…my panic attacks have started again and are off the scale

Hello @tinamac241,

I’m sorry to hear about your mum. Thank you for reaching out - you are not alone.

It sounds like you are really struggling right now and could do with some extra support. You might wish to explore some of these options.

  • Samaritans are available 24/7 to talk about anything that you are worried about in confidence. You can call them on 116 123.

  • Shout are contactable by text, 24/7. You can text REMEDY to 85258 and talk to them about anything.

  • You can also find your local NHS urgent mental health helpline.

Sue Ryder offers an online bereavement counselling service. This is a free service and sessions are held via video chat so you can attend from home. There’s more information about this service here: sueryder.org/counselling.

You can also make an appointment with your GP and ask to be referred to counselling or other support services in your area.

You deserve care and support so please, @tinamac241, get in touch with one of these services.

Take good care,
Seaneen

I lost my mum in November and although under different circumstances, I feel very similar to you. Each day as it comes but know you are not alone
