Some losses don’t just hurt for a while, they hurt for a lifetime.
The hardest part of losing your loved one is realising you have to keep living in a world without them.
You don’t miss them less you’ve just become better at hiding how much you do.
Hi Alone 1. I lost my partner Theresa in March, this year,we had been a couple for 35 years some days are very hard to come to terms with others are less harder. Just the other day I was in the bank and I met a friend’s wife and she asked me how I and Theresa were doing. told her Theresa had passed away in March, she started to hug me and said she was so sorry to hear that and told me how much I must be missing her as every time she seen one of us the other was always there, it started me off again and I had to fight back tears until I got back home. I know a lot of people will have similar meetings with friends who haven’t heard our sad news. Take care
It’s hard when we have to tell people that someone has passed. We were married for 53 years and spent all our time together. It was hard being in the house alone and the silence that is so loud. I’m proud that you managed to hold the tears - I find myself just ‘leaking’ and not being able to control it. Take care - my thoughts are with you
Almost a year on but confusion still happens. I was trying to tell a new acquaintance about my lovely partner. I couldn’t find the word “late” partner. I said, “former, ex, bereaved, deceased.” How could I get it so wrong.
I still call him ‘my husband’ because he was that for most of my life
I needed to say that he was no longer alive …..but the right word wasn’t there. It seemed like minutes before I found it.
