I lost my husband unexpectedly on 2/09/2024 I still don’t know why or have a full death certificate yet. I’m not sure how long I’m supposed to wait for these things to be sorted out. I got my local MP involved because I think 17 months is a long time to have no specific answers. Is there a time limit on finding the reason out or getting answers

Goodness me how awful for you.
Not only the sudden loss of your husband the never ending grief and still no death certificate. Can your GP chase this for you?
Though I’m sure you’ve tried many times.
Take care thinking of you
Hi Janeene
I’m sorry to hear you are still waiting for a death certificate such a long time after the shock and distress of losing your husband. It’s not right that you are waiting all this time. It’s my understanding that the coroner’s court should conclude inquests within 12 months and if this doesn’t happen, it should be passed to the chief coroner in your area.
There is help available for families to help with this process. They can find information and get answers for you. Here are the links to information that may be helpful to you.

I hope your MP has been helpful and you get the answers you need soon. x
Thank you for your help
I am in the same position, my partner died 5 months ago, they only issued an interim death certificate so I could bury him. I ve just had a letter today saying I can make an arrangement to collect the full death certificate. Phone your local council’s death registration department to see what the delay is. It’s bad enough losing someone but waiting so long for a death certificate is ridiculous.
Thank you so much
