Loss of my mum

Sadly 3 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus & secondary liver cancer my beautiful mum passed away. A week after she passed away I gave birth to our second daughter, I’m really struggling to come to terms with my mum passing as she didn’t get to meet her new granddaughter, she was an amazing nanny to my eldest (7) who is also struggling to come to terms with her nanny no longer being here.
I hope this journey without mum becomes easier.

Hello @HM2022, I am so sorry for the loss of your mum - I can’t imagine how it must have been giving birth to your daughter so soon after. It is completely understandable that you would be struggling right now - well done for reaching out.

Many of our members have lost their parents so will understand some of what you are going through. It can be especially difficult to find our own space to grieve when we’re supporting our children. Winston’s Wish offer advice and support to bereaved children and their families. They’re on 08088 020 021 and http://www.winstonswish.org.uk/

Do you think that some extra support for yourself might be helpful? Sue Ryder offer free online bereavement counselling. This is done via video chat from home and you can find out more here: https://www.sueryder.org/online-bereavement-counselling

I hope you find the community to be a support - you are not alone.

Take care
