Lost my dad

My dad past away in April this year and I’m really struggling.
He was my only parent as I don’t have a relationship with my mum, he was my 5 year old daughter’s best friend and I’m lost.
He fell very ill on morning with no warning, I was called and got ambulance crew to him, where they preformed CPR for 20 minutes, he suffered serious brain images and his life support was turned off 6 days later. It been 6 months of hell.
I’m really struggling with the flash back, the last words he heard me say, the look in his face that morning… they haunt me daily. I just can’t get past them.
I can honestly say if it wasn’t for my daughter I don’t think I would have made it through the last few months. She is my rock, but I’m faking it as I’m crumbling inside.
I have two sisters, so we’ve been through this together but they wasn’t in the ambulance and I’ve kept alot of what happened from them a, because I want to protect them but b, I can’t talk about it.
6 months has gone by now, and the pain hasn’t eased.

Hello @NicoleJ87, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. I’m glad you’ve found our community and hope it will be a support for you, but I am so sorry for the loss that brings you here.

You sound traumatised by the experience of watching your dad die. I’m wondering if you’re getting any support to help you through your grief? It can be hard to take that first step, but it sounds like it might be a good idea to visit your GP and see if they can support you.

We also offer online bereavement counselling which you might want to explore. It’s free and held by video chat with specialist bereavement counsellors. You can find out more here: https://www.sueryder.org/online-bereavement-counselling

I’m sure someone will be along to offer their support, but I just wanted you to know that you have been heard and you are not alone.

Take care
Seaneen

Thank you!

I have called and spoken to my GP this morning, changing my anxiety tablets and have suggested I contact ‘Cruse’ to arrange counselling.

Really talking about it with someone is the only thing I haven’t really done, so going to see if it helps.

Thank you for providing me with information and the link, i will also try this.

Thank you again
