I’ve always been someone who overthinks things, but since around April it’s become significantly worse. It’s not like these thoughts suddenly appeared out of nowhere—they’ve just become much more intense and started affecting parts of my life that they never used to.
The biggest change is that I’m starting to feel uncomfortable around the people I’ve always felt safest with. Friends I’ve known for years, who I’ve never had any reason to doubt, now make me question everything. I’ll be sitting with them and suddenly convince myself they’re looking at each other because of me, laughing when I look away, or pretending to like me. A few months ago I never would’ve thought like that around them, but now it happens all the time.
That’s probably the part that scares me the most because it makes me feel like I’m slowly losing the ability to just relax and enjoy being around people.
Thank you so much for sharing this with the community Hopefully other members will be along soon to offer their support. In the meantime, I just wanted to let you know that you’ve been heard, and that the community is here for you.
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I can relate to a lot of what you’ve written. Since losing my partner 8 weeks ago now , my mind constantly overthinks everything too, and being around people feels so much harder than it ever used to. I feel like I have a sign around my neck and everyone is staring at me or judging me, even though deep down I know that’s probably not what’s happening. It’s exhausting living with those thoughts all the time.
Please be kind to yourself. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and I really hope, with time and support, those thoughts become quieter. Sending you a big hug. There are lovely people on here that have some great advice so please reach out again to us whenever you feel the need.
I do understand! I thought that I’m coping better and lately the trivial things have made me cry and I don’t trust people anymore, because they put me down when I needed them the most. Sometimes I seem like a weirdo for them, because many of them think that after a year I should be fine. Only here and with my best friends living over the sea I know that I’m just a woman who is grieving too much, because I love endlessly… Janka
