my current loss

Hi i lost my husband of 45 years 7 weeks ago. I am getting worse. Not eating, cant sleep but also dont want to as I dont want to wake up for it all to start all over again. I only have step family, some are great others not but they all work and are busy. Got old friends who have come back after 20 years but when Im alone I cant stand the silence even with the tv on. I am waiting for counselling but have been told it could be 3 months and really cant wait that long. Feel as if Im dying inside and my heart is breaking

Hi always Billy so sorry for your loss, I really mean that we all know what your feeling as we are all feeling it, the despair is horrendous but like me you are in the early stages when you don’t know what to do but there are people on here who have lots of information and care for you.

I lost my husband of 30 years 8 weeks on Wednesday, it’s his birthday and our wedding anniversary tomorrow, i cry my eyes out every day sometimes on and off all day, but since I found this forum and can put words on here it seems to make it easier, i have been lucky I rang age uk 2 weeks ago and someone is phoning me at the weekend (have you tried them ) there are crisis lines also. Go to your gp they might be able to help, but please keep talking to the people you have around you or on here. I write on here every day and it helps me

Lot’s of hugs for you jean:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Dear billy I am sorry to hear your suffering. There are some free online therapy session available, one is from this site which might be an option for you. There are also a lot of private options which may also be a possibility. Something else that might be useful are the many bereavement groups that are around your area where people meet up for coffee and a chat.

I hope you find some solace here where everyone understands the pain of a bereavement. Thinking of you and sending hugs

Hi @AlwaysBilly
I am sorry for your loss
I am coming up to 12 months since I lost my husband suddenly cardiac arrest in a few days
The first few months are horrible, I had counselling. Which really helped me .
I had to wait 5 months, for me it was worth the wait. I attended a bereavement cafe once a month. Which has also helped me as well .
I hope you get some help sorted soon
They are a lot of supportive people on here who have really helped me .
I’m hope you have the same experience
Look after yourself.

So sorry to hear that you lost your husband. Your love for your husband and pain at losing him is there in your words. I am thinking of you.Grief is such a powerful emotion and a horrible thing to endure.

Unfortunately losing your appetite and not eating properly or regularly is regrettable but something that most people experience when losing a loved one.

I lost my darling wife seven weeks ago and have to force myself to eat as I know I need the energy. As do you. I try to eat something even if it is a matter of snacking and eating a little throughout the day. At least by doing this I am eating something.

Like you I wish the pain and sadness would go away and that the waves of despair not be so high. I have accepted that the pain and loss is incredibly raw and I will just need get through one day, sometimes one hour, at a time.

Life is so hard when you lose your soulmate. i met my wife in 1980 and I miss her so much. Please take care of and be kind to yourself. Counselling will hopefully help but the wait you are facing is intolerable.

Hi AB. So sorry for your loss. I lost my partner Theresa 28 weeks ago today, we had lived together as a couple for 35 years. I have been through and still going through what you are suffering. I was the same, I couldn’t be bothered eating or doing normal everyday things, I lost over a stone and a half in weight, 7 weeks is very early for you and I know exactly what you are going through, . I find it hard to sit in my house alone as it is the first time I have really been on my own, the silence of the empty house is hard. If anyone can offer you help ,take it , keep on here as everyone will know what a horrible experience you are going through and will try and help in anyway they can. Take care

@AlwaysBilly I hope you are sleeping right now, I am so sorry for your loss, but glad you’ve found this place. Knowing there are others in similar situations, and venting here has helped me a great deal, particularly the “How is your day going” stream. If you’ve no one to tell, you can tell it there! :mending_heart: Cindy :pink_heart:
