My step fathers passing.

I have been faced with the death of my step father, the cause was suicide. This was a year ago soon. I am unsure how to feel. I am in my final year of college and it’s stressful enough. I get really low once I’m home from college but my grades are really well. You get really low at times but what hurts the most in the knowledge that it was suicide. After this you grow as a person and I would never ever judge someone (not that I would before). It shows we are all going through our own things. So if you have ever lost a parent or someone to suicide my heart goes out to you. I am not going to say I know how you feel but I understand how I feel and how much it does hurt. Stay safe, and please reach out for help.

Hello @22132627 ,

I’m part of the Online Community team and I can see that you are new to the community - I’d like to thank you for bravely starting this thread and sharing how you are feeling low but also not sure how to feel. I’m so sorry to hear about your stepfather. Most community members have sadly experienced the death of a loved one and so will understand some of what you are going through.

I’m sure someone will be along to offer their support. In the meantime, you may wish to look at these Sue Ryder resources which might be helpful.

You might also find helpful:

The Mix - they offer telephone counselling to people aged 25 and under The Mix Free Counselling Service For Under 25s | The Mix.

Also, Winston’s Wish provides grief and bereavement support for children and young people (up to 25) after the death of someone important. They have a helpline that you can call free on 08088 020 021 between 8am-8pm, weekdays. They also have a live chat feature on their website. https://winstonswish.org/

I really hope you find the community helpful and a good source of support and I also hope you feel you can access more support should you need it.

Thank you again for sharing – please keep reaching out and know that you are not alone.

Take care,

Alex
