Navigating the loneliness of grief - a podcast from our Director of Bereavement, Bianca

Hello everyone,

Loneliness is a topic that comes up a lot on the community. Even though grief is one of the most universal experiences there is, it can be incredibly lonely.

One of the main reasons the community exists is because we at Sue Ryder know how powerful and isolating loneliness can be. And how important it is to connect with other people who understand, and to know that you are not alone.

So I wanted to share this podcast with you, if you’re coping with the loneliness of grief.

In this episode of the Loneliless podcast, our Director of Grief and Bereavement Bianca Neumann explores the connection between grief and loneliness.

Bianca explains why grief is often invisible, why many people don’t know how to support someone who is grieving, and why the widely known “stages of grief” can actually be misleading. She also shares practical insights on how to support someone in grief, how to stay connected to a loved one who has died, and small ways to soothe yourself when the loneliness of loss feels overwhelming.

Hi seenan

I watched your podcast last night and it.made.me cry I do.a.lot of what is talked about hiding my grief from family looking OK but inside I.am not.and I.want to.scream look at me.i.am.hurting it’s not there fault it is.now ones fault that I lost my husband but I feel he went to young and I have had so.many more go after him it makes me think about myself and why I am still.here and that is the hardest thing to come to.terms with because you punish yourself and I lock myself away as I.feel.that is the safest place to be I know I suffer from panic attacks and my health has taken a battering since losing my husband and I just think home is the safest place for.me.so.scared of this world now never used to.be I have a lot to overcome and I hope I can do.this but.i.know I cannot do.it all on my own
