I recently learned of knitting techniques for sailors. Since my floor loom and blankets did not materialize I may do this. The patterns are very profound. When I was hospitalized after my child’s birth I could not tolerate the TV and magazines I wrote down the pattern for my blanket. I didn’t appreciate this as much when you live in a place so cold your eyes freeze and unless you wear an entire sheep with accessories you will not survive. However I am learning of costume and historical techniques.
One of my native friends learned quilling and leather craft and it is not about beauty it is about durability.
So i saw a gorgeous scarf on an actress made of loose finger weave in moire and maybe I can learn to make just one. Textiles are big here as we have interface with native Americans (it’s so exploitative it hurts my heart and honestly that is why I wanted to move here). There is literally a native yarn and pattern shop with classes nearby. I don’t want to hurt my hands I worked so hard for so many years in labor. I can use my own textiles and metrics if I can learn the craft. I’m watching a film with wit that has me laughing so hard and the Wardrobe deserves a Second Mention
