New community features

Hello everyone,

You might have noticed a little site downtime earlier today. This is because we were updating the software the community runs on to the latest version.

The update has come with some useful features which I wanted to share with you.

Flagging posts

It is really helpful if users flag posts to us which they feel break our community guidelines or terms and conditions. You can also flag anything to us which you would like us to take a closer look at. To flag a post, click the little flag underneath the post.

There are now a number of categories with which to flag posts:

I may add more if it is helpful.

Flags are always anonymous so please do use them to let us know if you’re worried about something.

Quickly access your draft posts

Sometimes you might start a post and want to come back to it later to continue it. You can now easily access your drafts by clicking the arrow next to, “New conversation”:

Then you can pick up where you left off.

As with all upgrades, there might be a few glitches along the way. If you see something not working as it should, please do comment on this thread, or send me a private message.

Thanks as always for being such a supportive community :blue_heart:

Hi Seaneen - is the “unanswered posts” filter supposed to capture new threads where no one has responded to the initial post, or just any unanswered post? I tried it, and its showing me long conversation threads where the original poster has had a reply but then there are other unread messages in the thread.

Hi Ally6

We’ll pick this up with Seaneen tomorrow to check functionality of the “unanswered posts” tool is working correctly.

Thank you, Naoise

Hi @Ally6,

Thanks for flagging this. The unanswered threads link should be directing to this page:

https://community.sueryder.org/latest?max_posts=1

There would be a few at the very top, and they are the most recent so the ones that may need a response. You might see some older threads that did have responses, but the person responding has since deleted or deactivated their account. So I can see that might be a bit confusing!

If you’re seeing something different, would you mind sending me a screenshot so I can investigate please? You can email it to me at online.community@sueryder.org. Here are some instructions to take a screenshot if it’s helpful: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/

Hello,

A few members have mentioned issues with editing posts. Just to let you know that I’m on it and investigating this with the developers. Will come back with an update

Hi Seaneen - i think i may have been using the wrong filter and using the “unread” instead of “latest” filter which accounts for part of the issue, however i cant find the “any status” dropdown that you refer to, to then select unanswered posts. Your picture looks like its on a PC but im on the mobile app - where would i find this dropdown please?

Thank you, @Ally6, it seems to be on the blink on mobile so I’ll look into that.

Editing should be sorted now, if anyone has any issues still please let me know

Hello,

It seems some users are experiencing some glitches, including the edit pencil appearing on and off, and the compose box changing size.

I’d be really grateful that you could report any issues by sending me a private message. You can send me a private message by tapping on my name, then, “Private message”.

First of all

Please try clearing your browser cache. Here are instructions on how to do that:

https://uaptc.edu/clear-cache

If that doesn’t solve the issue, please private message me.

Can you please include:

  • What device you are using - e.g. is it an Android phone and if so, what model? Is it a computer, if so, what make?

  • What browser you’re using, e.g. Safari, Chrome

  • What operating system, e.g. if on Windows, what version? Or on an iPad, what version of operating system?

  • A screenshot of the issue, if possible. Here is how to take a screenshot on different devices.

Then I can investigate more fully. Thank you
