New Hobbies, anyone

Our lives have changed, and Ive always encouraged us to do something new. New activities, interests and hobbies.
Often old ones disappear with our loved ones, so maybe its time to have a go at those things which you never got around to.

In the 2 years since Penny died, Ive tried:-

Learn the banjolele - did it, but didnt enjoy it a lot!
Caving and abseiling- getting too old, but did it. But made new friends along the way.
Joined a 4 part harmony choir - success and loving the music and company.
Learn the flute : its a difficult instrument, will take many months, but loving the challenge.

Ive now signed up for a new acting group, but we dont have to learn the lines, we read them! Ive always wondered what acting was like, but we dont call each other ā€œDarlingā€ (I hope)

What new things have you all had a go at, which you never did before?

I just started to learn french, swim every week and do a Keep-Fit class. Something I probably never would have done if my husband was still here.

Bien fait, Debbie. Quelle belle liste!

I booked a short course at the uni to get to grips with my camera. Had great fun, learned a lot and no one knew about my recent past, so no ā€˜pity looksā€™ā€¦ also joined a photography group and my Christmas present to myself is a one day welding courseā€¦ just because I can!
I can see N right now, rolling his eyes and laughing with meā€¦

Pickleball - which I really enjoy.
Golf - need to practice a lot more
Outdoor swimming - nice with friend but got too cold even over the summer in a wetsuit as Iā€™ve lost so much weight.
Gardening - volunteer at community garden so I can learn as Iā€™ve never done it before - was my husbands job !!

Wish it wasnā€™t this way.

Tai Chi, felt like a bit of a dick at first, but now I am enjoying it. And it seems to help the night time cramps in my legs

DIY jobs, always my husbandā€™s territory, but needs must. Not done to his standard, but I am getting better, if a little ā€˜creativeā€™.

We always did the gardening together but he did the heavy stuff. Now I am learning how to do it.

With the onset of winter, gardening wonā€™t be an option, so I might look for a new hobby.

Xx
