hi all, just wanting to see if anyone has lost their mother quite young. i’m not sure how i feel anymore and think after 8 months its time i tried to speak to people who may know how to cope or just help me cope.
Hi @unknown2004,
Thank you for bravely reaching out. I’m so sorry to hear about your mum and losing her when you are at such a young age. You are not alone. I’m not sure if you’ve seen our Losing a parent category. But there you can connect with other members who are living with grief after losing a parent.
I’m sure someone will be along to offer their support to you. In the meantime, you might find these Sue Ryder resources helpful to read.
-
Our Losing a parent page talks through some of the emotions you may be experiencing
-
Our Grief Guide self-help platform which has information, resources and advice to help you through your grief
-
Our Bereavement Information pages which can walk you through what you are going through
Another good place to get support is The Mix, which offers telephone counselling to young people aged 25 and under http://www.themix.org.uk/get-support/speak-to-our-team/telephone-counselling
I hope you find the community to be a support to you. Take good care and keep reaching out ![]()

Hello @unknown2004 . It must be a shock when you lose a parent when you’re younger. You say you’re not sure how you feel - that’s exacly how I feel at the moment. The best advice I can give is to be gentle with yourself and insist on taking things at a pace you can manage. xx
