Getting to sleep, getting little or no sleep or interrupted sleep seems to a problem for most of us. I started using this technique called Cyclic Sighing about a month ago and it’s improved the quality and duration of my sleep. The real benefit is cumulative so you need to do it at least once a day for a week or two.
Cyclic Sighing takes three minutes. You can do it during the day to help with anxiety and overthinking or in bed at night to help you sleep. Take a slow breath in through the nose for about four seconds. At the top of that breath, take a second, short sniff of air and then hold it for a second. Then exhale slowly through the mouth for about four seconds in a deep sigh. That’s one cycle. Now keep repeating this for about three minutes.
