Physical reactions

Has anyone else had physical reactions to the loss? I have had such throbbing headaches which make me scream out in pain it’s unbearable. I have also had a lot of nausea and vomiting and some dizziness. It’s like my body is reacting in an extreme way it’s making it even worse. I am trying to do self care and give myself time but this has been going on for 3-4 weeks now. Just wondering how long it will last?! My mum dies after a long time with Alzheimer’s and then stopped eating and drinking but it took 2 weeks - the headaches began then.

Dear JoJo

My advice would be visit your GP. I know grief can affect us physically but I’d rule out the headache being something else. It could be something simple and the doctor can put your mind at rest.

I put down my symptoms all down to losing my husband last year but now it turns out they are not. Best to get it checked.

Hope the headaches pass soon x

Thank you! I did go to my GP and was told it was tension headaches. They weren’t much help really but not sure I was expecting much.

I’m glad you got it checked. There are people in this group that use mindfulness, there are videos on YouTube I believe. I find being outdoors helps me, a nice long walk can make such a difference. I hope you find something that helps x

Hello Jojo, I hope your doctor gave you a complete check up, my daughter had a lot of those same symptoms and she ended up needing antibiotics, ..

Hi JoJo it might be worth going back to the GP. If things like headaches and vomiting have persisted it’s something that they have to look into. That being said some people have these symptoms with migraines. My mother being one and you could ask your doctor about taking Feverfew which is a herb used for vomiting from migraine headaches.

Wishing you all the best Tom
