Hi all,
I lost my amazing big brother 4 weeks ago he was only 45, I’m really struggling with life right now. I also was he’s carer for 20 years. Im not eating, don’t want to do anything and just lay about all day crying and that’s just not me what so ever. Miss him so much
if this is how life is going to feel I’m not sure I can sign up for that. Please can someone tell me it gets easier
Hi @Coburn
I’m so sorry you lost your brother. It sounds like you were very close. My brother died many years ago. He was not in good health but it was a shock all the same. I was devastated and struggled for quite some time. It sounds like a cliche but for me anyway it did get easier. I will never get over losing him but in time I could think about him and the good times. It is very early days for you. It is such a shock your mind will struggle to process what has happened. The only advice I can give is to go with how you feel and know that when you feel bad it will pass. What you describe are completely normal feelings and emotions. Try to eat when you can and keep hydrated. If you don’t feel like doing much that is ok and understandable. Keep posting here if you need to. Get through each day as best as you can. Take care

Hello there.
It’s so hard. I understand your pain. My young sister, only 29 years old, died unexpectedly four weeks ago. She had intellectual and physical disabilities - and, being older than my sister, I long ago volunteered to be one of her primary caregivers. I’m struggling with grief. It’s intense. I just can’t function normally. I spend most of the day laying down, crying. I loved her so much and I’m devastated. It’s affecting me both physically and mentally. I am suffering from feelings of shock, guilt, and anger. I’m having emotional outbursts, and am experiencing fatigue and insomnia, physical pain, and severe anxiety.
My only real avenue for trying to cope is to look through old photos. I’m putting together an album, a sort of photo biography. It gives me something to focus on.
Like you, I’m hoping things will get easier. For you, as with me, it’s early days … I’m told time is a healer. I don’t know if that’s true. Right now, I long for my sister. I’m having difficulty accepting the loss. I’m guessing you feel the same about your brother.
One day at at time is all we can do. And hopefully communicating, expressing our feelings, will help a little,
My thoughts are with you!
