My remaining parent died suddenly earlier this year, I found them and it was a massive shock. I have shouldered organising everything afterwards and the sorting of affairs is still ongoing.
Work gave me a couple days of bereavement leave then I took annual leave for the funeral etc. I went back to work for a few weeks and then it all caught up with me and I woke up one morning and couldn’t function. I’ve been off sick since.
I want to get back to work for financial reasons and to start moving forward however I’ve not received the support I’ve wanted and asked for from my line manager to get that return planned.
I feel overwhelmed as to how to cope with this - anyone got any experience or advice to share?
Hi @Binky101 - im sorry to hear that your line manager is not giving you the support you need. Does your employer have a HR department/HR representative? It might be worth getting in touch with them and explain you WANT to come back but you need support to do so and that youre not getting it. They should normally be able to support the line manager to do this, and they might even suggest referral to an occupational health team who can provide recommendations for a possible phased return to work. Best of luck
Your GP should also be able to assist by issuing a fit note that recommends changes to your working hours /practices which would be difficult for your line manager to ignore!
