I’ll be sharing my story, of my dad who was never allowed to see a GP and who consequently died well before his time, and my mum who ended up in hypertensive emergency because the GPs didn’t follow national guidelines.

Well to me nhs is in a permanent crisis state and I don’t want to bring up the political side of it but it seems to me the nhs has been in decline for over 40 years
My personal experience is I lost my mum and to this day I blame the nhs for having a part in me losing my mum. I will hate them for the rest of my life

I think GPs need to be investigated for the lack of care to everyone. They suppose to be a safety net, but you got a better chance of seeing a ghost then a GP these days. I kind of hate my GP as if I didn’t have pushed it myself I could be with mum now. I would like to know how many people have died because of this. GP and physio’s thought I had back pain and prescribed me Cocodamol, went through 4 boxes, 2 physio appointments , 2 chiro practioners appointments. 1 visit to A and E, I struggling walking. I was stood down at work and told to go to a walk in, I did. They found something in my urine, I thanked him and was very grateful. He told me he wanted me to go to A and E straight away. I did and saw the same doctor I saw a week earlier who had sent me home. This time I stood my ground and told I been sent by the walk-in. He was going to send me home again, when the phone went and he like they found something and want to keep you in. Are these so called doctors trying to kill us ? 10 bags in drips and almost 2 weeks in hospital, my diagnosis Not back pain, but Myeloma cancer,!

Oh gosh, is that what it was. :people_hugging:

The care is too variable. It annoys me when people say, in the healthcare system’s defence, “Well, I always get good service from my GP.” Yes, but that doesn’t negate the problem, does it, because if the service isn’t working for everyone then it’s not working, full stop.

I rung my gp yesterday I told a receptionist I might have cancer I need to come in this morning. I couldn’t believe it they said I have to ring tomorrow. I said to her are you having a laugh I might have cancer and your telling me you can’t fit me in. What’s your name I’m going to report you. She put phone down i rung back and complained and told a different receptionist id like to complain to your practise manager I’m still waiting for that phone call. What is it your being told if you think you have cancer it’s best to be seen straight away. That makes a mockery of it.

i can get an appointment the same day if i ring at 8am i have to say but in general the nhs is a load of s*&^, people always talk about drs but nhs covers ever aspect of health care and its been no good for decades, should be scraped. they dont give a damn about anyone, more people have died because of cancelled appointments and treatment.
they have had billions ploughed into it over the yrs and its worse now than ever

Those billions aren’t enough, though. The NHS is massively underfunded compared to healthcare in France and Germany. We pay enough in tax and NI but the government isn’t funnelling it into healthcare, because neither of the main parties think it’s worth the investment.

I don’t personally know enough about the pitfalls of part-privatisation. I know it’s very frowned upon, but the problem we have at the moment is that no one is offering any safe option. My mum has high blood pressure. There’s no way we could privately fund her care (daily medications, regular check ups etc.) but one-off private care can be affordable for some people. But diverting cases to private care, doesn’t that reduce the expertise of staff who work only in the NHS and don’t pick up private patients?
