Been to the doctors this morning - had my flu/COVID boosters on Friday and they appear to have caused problems with a long standing medical issue. Never happened before, so don’t know why it has this time. My beloved would have been fussing round me and making sure l was okay this morning, instead l came back into an empty house - stuff like this just makes things feel worse

Had my covid/flu jab yesterday. Woke up feeling rubbish. Hot and achey. Planned so not a lot to do today. Each year the vivid and flu jabs are different to cope with the new strains. Something in this one has obviously affected you. Or you immune system is weaker whilst coping with grief. Feeling like this in an empty house is horrible. Hope you feel better. Sandra

There is a lot of flu going round. This grief must make us more vulnerable. A cup of coffee and a few biscuits is making me feel a bit better. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, when you are feeling unwell, you have no support or someone to make a fuss of you. Hope you feel better soon. Life is a bitch.

Thanks @Pudding … i wonder if it makes us more susceptible too? Hope you feel better too  xxx

I’m not over 65 either @Deb5 - l get them relatively early as l am classed as ‘at risk’ because of my health issue. I did ask whether this means l had better not have them in future, but apparently they can be careful as to which vaccine l get - that’s if this flare up is anything to do with that, of course. Waiting for my consultant to tell me if he needs to see me before my regular appointment - that was supposed to be Wednesday but was pushed back a fortnight because of strike action….

@Pudding - l was reading your comments on another stream about the tax office. They are just about the worst lot l have had to deal with. I knew l was going to get clobbered that way, and l want them to tell me how much l owe and l will pay it off. But no, they have upped my tax coding to take a chunk back this year and the same again next year :woman_facepalming:t3:

Not surprised. Feeling rubbish. Grieving. Then having an appointment pushed back because of a strike. I have just made myself lunch and it has made me feel exhausted. It’s amazing how hard making a sandwich can be. My neighbour is making up for not putting my bins out by bringing them back. He says to make sure I email them next Sunday. I’m caertainly not going to be angry or slighted as I know if I need anything fixed he will be there. Hope you feel better. Sandra

Doesn’t your tax code notice tell you how much you owe? Mine said how much they wanted me to pay on the back but I had a K coding and had sort of worked it out. I designed and wrote a payroll a long time ago but the basics of tax haven’t changed. I have found out if you want to talk to them do it at 8a.m. I virtually got straight through.

You used to learn a lot of weird things as an analyst/programmer. The processing of paint. The specific gravity of paint. How to work out cutting shapes out of a single sheet of cardboard. I once had to write some programs for a company called Oldham Elastic. Yes they really did exist. And Acme Signs. You wouldn’t believe it. The weird retail laws in Italy. Trying to stocktake rolls of fabric without unrolling it all and measuring. Never did solve that one.

They’ve told me they can’t give me a definitive answer on how much l owe until after the end of this tax year @Pudding - though they’ve certainly put me on a higher tax code. l had a fair idea how much it was, because l know exactly what took me beyond the 20% tax bracket, but getting them to agree is too much like hard work at the minute.

Makes my spreadsheets and finance work sound very boring :slightly_smiling_face: @Pudding

Maybe they are hoping for a budget change.

I used to use spreadsheets all the time in my last job. I was support for SAP on finance and costing. Spreadsheets were invaluable in finding out what the customers had done this time to screw up their accounts. You don’t really get the same variety as a programmer these days. You are expected to specialise. I was expected to understand everything in manufacturing and sales from Ato Z. Solicitors accounting was extremely challenging particularly as the original product came from a one man and his dog firm and the dog did the coding.

Laughed at the comment about the dog  @Pudding

Glad I managed to cheer you up a bit. It wasn’t funny working on the code. What a heap of rubbish. I think I had virtually re written it all by the time I got it part way working.
