Sukiyaki (Ue o Muite Arukou) - Kyu Sakamoto (English Translation and Lyrics)
English Lyrics:
I look up when I walk
So that the tears wonât fall
Remembering those spring days
But I am all alone tonight
I look up when I walk
Counting the stars with tearful eyes
Remembering those summer days
But I am all alone tonight
Happiness lies beyond the clouds
Happiness lies above the sky
I look up when I walk
So that the tears wonât fall
Though the tears well up as I walk
For tonight I am all alone
Remembering those autumn days
But I am all alone tonight
Sadness lies in the shadow of the stars
Sadness lurks in the shadow of the moon
I look up as I walk
So that the tears wonât fall
Though the tears well up as I walk
For tonight I am all alone
This was played today at the funeral of my dear friendâs husband. It wasnât easy to be there, I knew I would face memories of my own husbandâs funeral and it would be painful. It was, but this beautiful song was played, it touched me and I found great comfort in it I hope it may bring comfort to you too
On radio this morning.
Iâd do anything if I could hold him
For just another day, for just another dayâŠ
Ahh!these songs remind me of my amazing husband who passed away in 2019.
I played this to my poor mum, after she passed in hospital, as she was the one true love of my life x
Love this song. This brings tears and a smile to face at the same time. It was played at my Mothers memorial
Music is so powerful, bless you xx
I do like a bit of Cliff Richard and so did both my Mum and Dad. Whenever I hear âConstantlyâ I think of them both

Alice Kristiansen The One That Got Away
Summer after high school when we first met
Weâd make out in your Mustang to Radiohead
And on my 18th birthday we got matching tattoos
Used to steal your parentsâ liquor and climb to the roof
Talk about our future like we had a clue
Never planned that one day Iâd be losing you
In another life
I would be your girl
Weâd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
In another life
I would make you stay
So I donât have to say you were
The one that got away
The one that got away
I was June and you were my Johnny Cash
Never one without the other, we made a pact
Sometimes when I miss you I put those records on (whoa)
Someone said you had your tattoo removed
Saw you downtown singing the blues
Itâs time to face the music, Iâm no longer your muse
But in another life
I would be your girl
Weâd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
In another life
I would make you stay
So I donât have to say you were
The one that got away
The one that got away
The one that got away
All this money canât buy me a time machine, no
Canât replace you with a million rings, no
I shouldâve told you what you meant to me (whoa)
'Cause now I pay the price
In another life
I would be your girl
Weâd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
In another life
I would make you stay
So I donât have to say you were
The one that got away
The one that got away
The one (the one)
The one (the one)
The one (the one)
In another life
I would make you stay
So I donât have to say you were
The one that got away
The one that got away
