Struggling

I just had to put my sister’s cat down yesterday unexpectedly due to severe leukemia and I don’t know how to process the grief. We raised him together since he was a kitten and I just honestly can’t handle it anymore

Hello @Kcannss.

I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your sisters cat.

Thank you for reaching out. We have a support page about coping with the death of a pet on our Grief Guide which you may wish to read.

You may also want to get in touch with Blue Cross Pet Loss support. They have trained counsellors who can talk you through your loss. You can speak to them on the phone or online. Their helpline is 0800 096 6606 and it is open from 8.30am - 8.30pm every day. They also have a Facebook community which you may wish to join.

I hope you find the community to be a support to you and that you can reach out for more support, if you should want to.

Take good care - you are not alone,

Alex

Hello

I’m sending you a hug, and my support.

Our beloved pets are part of our family and losing them is heartbreaking.
My furbabies are my only family now and they give me love unconditionally.

It is a huge shock to have to lose them and they do leave a huge hole in your heart.

Take care of yourself. Grief is mourning for the life we thought we would have with all our loved ones. Our pets are our family and we hope they will last forever.

If you believe in rainbow :rainbow: bridge, that’s where they wait for us. I think that’s a precious thought to have in times of sadness.

I hope this helps a little in your sadness.
