The Old Christmas Card

I found a little Christmas card it was in a box of stuff
I opened it and read it, its verse was written thus:
“Season’s greetings and salutations
Best wishes and all the best
Happy New Year and live long
And may you be God blessed.”

There was something written below this little verse
It was written in your writing, just like we would converse
I felt the love in those words written by your shaky hand
Tears filled my eyes as you can understand.

I love that little Christmas card, my heart strings are all a strum
That little card means so much because it’s signed
“Love, Alan xx.”

A treasure.

Me and my husband used the same Christmas cards every year (as we did for valentine’s and our Anniversary!)

So the Christmas cards were always packed away with the decorations, and I’d get them out every year when I was putting up the decorations. I’d give him the card to me, and then we did a little ritual of passing them to each other.

I don’t do decorations now, but I put the cards up next to each other, just as I always did. So special to see his writing inside xxx

Love, hugs and strength to you all

I too have put both of our last year’s Christmas cards to each other up. It feels simply right. xx
