I’m slowly trying to watch videos of my wife and see them as happy memories rather than just crying.
This one was a holiday we had in Southsea, in 1970, along with a couple of friends.
The audio is a song I wrote back in 2016 that has lyrics, particularly in the first two verses, that are more significant now that Jackie has gone. It was a live rehearsal with me singing and playing guitar, so please forgive any mistakes.
Whenever I see you, while I hear you
When I touch you, you’re not there
Times we used to, the place we longed for
The touch that meant so, the way we were
Time of healing, days a longing,
Heart was grieving, you’re not there
Times we used to, the place we longed for
The touch that meant so, the way we were
Penny Blacks and jumping jacks
Bags we took to school
Rag and bone, horse and cart
*Nothing ‘oh so cool’ *
It’s my own fault, done on impulse
Could have gone further, stayed at school
Times we used to, the place we longed for
The touch that meant so, the way we were
Wherever I see you, while I hear you
When I touch you, please be there
Times we used to, the place we longed for
The touch that meant so, the way we were
Penny Blacks and jumping jacks
Bags we took to school
Rag and bone, horse and cart
Nothing ‘oh so cool’
