We had only purchased our dream house on an acre of land and Mark passed away suddenly 2yrs into living here. Now it is a torment for me to make a decision to stay here or go staying involves work to be done on house and maintenence of land to move i would be one day i am all for move then next i am not i do know cant live like this and it has been 5 yrs now so taught i would know for sure by now.
When i add up to stay or to move it be more for to move even though its in nature i love it not the same without Mark now and think its bringing me more pain to stay so just wondering did any of ye make a move feeling like this and what was the outcome.
It’s a difficult decision. My partner’s estate is still in probate and I might have to move out from our house so I can’t make any plans. I miss him so much and the house is not the same without him, it will require a lot of maintenance and it’s expensive to run. I’ve had to get a gardener who doesn’t do as good a job as my partner did. That said my partner loved his house and garden, he worked hard for it but was taken at age 66, so I m feeling guilty thinking like this. I’m on my own and would like to be closer to family. I feel very vulnerable and anxious at times and that was something I never felt before. I think you have to consider your own personal circumstances and do what’s going to make your life easier.
I’ve had to put our beautiful house on the market, it was my husband’s dream home until he died suddenly 8 months ago. I know I can’t live there but it breaks my heart to sell.
I asked Chatgbt. I know this isn’t for everyone but if you put in all your thoughts (no personal information) it gives lots of useful answers. For example, taking the emotion out of it could you see yourself there in 5 years time. If you don’t move now are you putting off the inevitable.
I am in a very similar position…dream house…forever home…my wife died 2 years later…3 years and counting later…I have decided I have to go….too many triggers, large house, maintenance issues ect…but mainly because I now accept that what was supposed to be can never be…and all I’m doing is torturing myself.
That’s exactly it, torturing ourselves. My house is too big, too old and too rural, I can’t keep on top of things now so don’t stand a chance later on.
…the greater good needs to be considered. I’m moving into an annex next to my daughter…easier for both me…and them…in the future. I know I’m lucky to have this option…many don’t
My wife and I spent over 20 years in our dream home, after she died I found too many ghosts in every room, every corner, in the garden etc,I sold up and moved within a year,a fresh start and a new home, all I can advise it was right for me, the best of luck to you.
