I feel numb after death of parents. I have not cried and don’t appear to be able to feel anything? Is this normal?
Hello @Buzybee37,
Thanks for reaching out. I’m very sorry for the loss of your parents. Reading your profile, it sounds like you lost them at the same time, which must be all the harder to cope with.
I’m sure someone will be along to share their thoughts, but I just wanted to share our support page, “Am I normal?”, which talks about the things you might experience when grieving. Numbness like you’re describing is really common.
If you think it might help to talk about this with someone, we offer free online bereavement counseling. It’s held via video chat so you can do it from home. You can find out more here:
Take good care,
Seaneen
We were numb for days after my son passed. Just sat and stared into space. The tears came later. Don’t feel bad about not crying. It doesn’t mean your grief is any less.
