Weather

Hello everyone, my husband died 16 months ago. I have horrible horrendous days and a few good days. However it has become apparent to me that I am very much affected by the weather. I have had quite a lot of time off work over Christmas and the days when I have woken up and it’s dark and the weather has been awful. torrential rain all day and horrible wind blowing, I just can seem to manage. I will get up, have a shower, get dressed and then look at weather and say to myself, I have had enough of this day already and just go to bed for the day and cry. I will be going back to work next week and will not be able to do this. But I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this. I just hate dark rainy depressing days and it makes me feel worse.

Dear @Misty2012

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your husband. The weather can affect your mood. On sunny days everything seems brighter, people are happier and you can go and about and even potter in the garden.

This time of year, it is depressing, dark, cold, wet and miserable and it does affect your mood. What you are experiencing is normal and many of us do feel like you do in the dark months of winter. Spring will come and days will get longer and you will feel better within yourself. The seasons do play a big part as to how you feel.

You are still grieving and grief is a rollercoaster ride of emotions with good days and bad days. It is a journey to be taken at your pace, it is not a race.

I hope work goes well for you next week, please continue to reach out here, we understand how you feel and you are not alone.

Take care.
