As people turn to thoughts of Christmas, my own thoughts turn to my fave day of the year Winter Solstice, I personally am not in to the materialism, commercialism of Christmas and all that goes with it. I look to rebirth, growth, returning to the light and the wonderful cycles of nature and our wonderful earth that breathes hope. The promise of spring and the wonderful colour of nature and it’s soothing effect on the soul. I liken it to a bulb buried in the darkness of the soil, laying dormant but preparing it’s growth and at the first light and warmth of spring it pushes through the soil in all it’s wonder and colour. I light a candle and reflect and express gratitude. It may not be for everyone but it just may help those to shift the focus away from Christmas and to celebrate their own growth

Hi Ditom64. I always look forward to the winter solstice. It marks the beginning of the end of dark nights and the promise that winter will eventually turn to spring again. It gives me so much hope for the year to come
