Hi I read a post last week about bereavement
Payments not the usual ones.
I can’t find the post now.
Could any one please direct me to it or let me have any information.
Many thanks Dol
It’s in the Coping with Bereavement part of the site…
Hi Derek
Just entered bereavement support payment and
All the things they said was required.
It came back immediately saying I had to be under state pension age to qualify
Is that what you have found?
Doreen
@Dol1 Hi… Derek might not see this reply as it’s a separatepost… but having read through the other post, yes, you do have to be under state pension age for this.
I’m sorry I can’t tell you whether there is anything you can claim as I haven’t reached state pension age yet.
Hopefully someone else will come along and let you know…
Dol 1,
Hi it’s quite easy.
The person needs to be under retirement age and have paid some NI in their name.
Then there is the requirement to complete within 3 months of the death for the lump sum and the 18 off £100 payments.
If you have missed the 3 month dead line
You still can get the lump sum but not the monthly payments.
Additionally if you are on certain benefits the payment can be considerably more
Check department of work and pensions bereavement payments I will go on and post some links.
One thin I think is really poor is when you go and register the death they should advise you at that point no one tells you unless you are lucky enough to find out.
My Dad told me he is 93
