Can we learn to change our perspective on grief?

Hi Sarah,

I’m so sorry for the pain you are going through. It’s so hard when we’ve lost our true love. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better but I know that it just isn’t that easy.

I don’t know if it helps, but your profile says that it is four years since you were widowed and, despite all the pain and loneliness you’ve been through, you’ve kept going. I’m just 15 months into this nightmare and I can’t even imagine how I could keep going that long. There is obviously a strength deep inside you, even if circumstances mean you can’t see it right now. You do inspire me and I’m sure Paul would be proud of you.

Take care.

Being on my own is so hard.We had no children and i just have cousins and my dear wifes sister who is housebound, disabled and not mentally very good.I find now everything has lost its purpose and meaning, the joy and hapiness has been replaced by sadness, loneliness and emptyness.Everythingis done alone now, eating alone, sitting in front of tv alone, sleeping alone, living my life alone.I still work, i have to pay the bills, it gives me some human interaction but no one really understands unless they have been down this road.Every day seems like groundhog day but i have to carry on.We can only do our best, step by step, moment by moment on this grief rollercoaster.Never did i think this would be my life now.I still have my faith but its been so tested.I still keep asking God WHY? but no real answers.I like to think our dear loved ones are with us spiritually but i really want to be with her but i know it cannot be.I have found this site so full of really kind understanding people who really do know how we feel.I find Nightime/bedtime the worst and getting up to face another day without my dear wife.I so hope things will get better for us.Take care.
