its nice tho sometimes to remember what we had not what we lost x
You are a little treasure Karie. That’s exactly it
That’s something I say regularly Karie
Richard you are in big trouble!!! Your talk of fish and chips made me switch off my dinner and do some fish and chips instead. Not chip shop but fish from the freezer and oven chips along with a load of veggies. (I love my veg).
Don’t lose heart about not being able to cook. When I got married I couldn’t have boiled water without burning it. I was expected to cook a dinner and hadn’t a clue what you did with potatoes. I had no ambition to be a domestic goddess and realised how little I did know but I had to learn pretty quick and can’t imagine what that first meal must have tasted like. But learn to cook I did and now enjoy it.
Just as you have been advised cook more than you need and freeze or put it in the fridge for later that week. Go for soups and stews along with stir fry’s at first, all easy enough. Can buy packet stir fry’s from supermarkets or Iceland.
The most important thing is to look after yourself.
Good luck

Hi Karie. Now you have brought back memories by mentioning Stow on the Wold. I used to live in Worcestershire and went to Stow to the famous Horse Sales they had there. Lovely part of the country.

HA HA, Pattidot
Hope you enjoyed your fish and chips as much as I did, big pickled onions as well.

Hi Pattidot, yes I will have to go through all of Jeans recipe books she has stacks of them, there must be something I can cook without a disaster.

Pickled onions! Now I’m salivating
Hi Kate, sounds like we have similar taste, fish and chips can’t beat it.

Hi gomon
Apologies if I’m spelt it wrong I too have just lost my partner 10 days ago so I feel your pain. Xx
Alex2, Please don’t apologise it’s gollom, but my name is Richard, I am so sorry for your loss, I am quite new to this site as I only lost my partner recently, but there are some wonderful people on this site and they will help you through this very hard time, I am still trying to come to terms with my loss and it is hard, I am talking to people every day and some days are a little better than others, and as they have told me just take one day at a time, and not think ahead, its hard and it hurts but just remember the good times, I just listen to what they say, Take care Alex.
Richard xx
Aw thank you so so much I’m truly sorry for your loss,I’m so glad I joined this community I really am. Hope your keeping safe xx
Hi Richard, yes I enjoyed my fish and chips but damn, I forgot the pickled onions as still have some in the cupboard left from Christmas.
Don’t worry about making a messup of cooking, it will come to you. Don’t need to do anything fancy, I never do, just good old fashioned food. Be careful with recipes I find they become too complicated although I do cook with herbs and spices now. I look at a recipe to give me an idea and then do my own thing. Used to drive my husband mad, but this method suited me and you will find your own way around the cooker. Can’t live on fish and chips!!!

Hi Pattidot, Glad you enjoyed your fish and chips, Jean used to say to me that the recipes used so many ingredients that she would have so much left over, and would probably not use them again before they went out of date.
