How are you supposed to sleep with your pants beeping at you? Not that you get much in the loony ward.

Typical. My garage is now lovely and tidy. Gardener just about to start jet washing and guess what? It decided to rain. Seems only a short shower though.

Hi sandra
I live in a very large detached victorian house, over 3 floors. I have no immediate neighbours. I have 4 flights of stairs. Plus 4 dogs. My daughter lives near Cheltenham and my son in Essex. He is working in East Timor at the moment. I have a son who lives locally, he works very long hours. I also care for my 70 year old autistic brother, who is in a wheelchair. Hopefully I can sort something out.

I can really see the problem. Good luck with sorting that out.
My neighbour lived in a bungalow. The neighbours here are old school more like a family. Her sons are not close. One lives in jersey. I think she had carers come in but not live in but it might have been the district nurse.

I couldn’t have managed without John after the hip replacement, as I was on two crutches for 6 weeks, and so couldn’t even carry a cup of coffee; and steep wooden stairs weren’t great to navigate on crutches, so I stayed upstairs for the first week or so. The wound healed well, but the recovery was very slow and extremely painful.

That should cheer Jane up.

She won’t have the same problems. I had a crap surgeon at a private hospital. Most people have a positive experience.

Didn’t think they did both hips at once.

Sorry you were feeling low but that’s what we are here for - to help each other. I hate nights too.
Also, like Sandra, can’t believe they are doing Gra’s daughters hips at the same time. I had both of mine replaced but just under a y at apart. She’ll have to get care in to help her or stay in. They can’t let someone home if she can’t manage. Don’t feel guilty at all.

Hope you are a bit better in spirits.

Maria - you have your hands full! Be sure to look after yourself too

I know the coffee problem. On bad days I need to use 2 sticks or a zimmer frame. Can’t carry anything. A cup of coffee means trip to kitchen and make coffee. Put on trolley. I have thermos type cups with lids so it won’t spill. Wheel to living room. If not drinking coffee immediately wheel trolley back to kitchen and swap back to sticks as trolley won’t fit in bathroom.
Weekends when I don’t have lunchtime carer to make my lunch. I can’t stand for long so into kitchen and leave stick. Put everything I need on trolley and wheel to lounge. Make my lunch and eat. Then trolley back to kitchen etc.

Well gardener finished tidying the garage and jet washing drive. He tells me I have 3 large tubs of stuff for the fence. I have already given away 3 tubs of the stuff. We haven’t got that much fence. He is just setting up his gardening business so I have let him have some garden tools that were in there.

That’s really difficult; so sorry. xx

It works is the main thing. Before I had the trolley I could move one thing at a time. That was truly awful. I don’t think about it. It’s just the way it is. Besides every time I get up I do my physio exercises so maybe one day I’ll be able to manage without the stick. I have laundry baskets on wheels as I can’t use a normal basket.
Most days my washing is put in by my morning carer. My lunchtime / evening carer hangs it for me to dry or collects and puts it in the bedroom for me to put away.
Everything gets done. Just slooooooowly.

Yes, I have, Jo. I have just discussed that my pants have a flashing light as well. Who needs a diamanté thong?

We must have this for our bubble suit. Maybe a siren as well. So your knickers beep and flash people in a sparkly tinkerbell nightie. That is one vision.
