Jamie stops at the Costa stand and brings me coffee. I have got ear plugs. Last night was the worst one yet. It’s supposed to be an orthopaedic ward, but all the other patients are very old, with dementia as well as broken bones. Seems to be par for the course and not a very attractive future. The staff seem to think it is inevitable. I was given the choice of whole or partial replacement. I asked the surgeon what he would do if it was his wife. He said full replacement was better, lasts longer but more serious and more risks. He said as I am relatively young for a hip replacement he would definitely recommend the full replacement. I agreed, because I don’t want to go through this again in 10 years. The pain is one thing, I think I could cope with that, it is the constant screaming and lack of sleep that is really wearing me down. Xx

I have only managed to walk around this bay and to the loo. I think there are 6 bays in total. I haven’t seen anyone else. I can certainly hear them though. Xx

Glad you chose the full hip replacement. I have had good and a knee replacement so not looking forward to the future when they need to be done again. Hoping they last longer than expected. But I don’t want to think long term right now.

Hang in there!

I cannot understand why they put patients with dementia together with those that haven’t
Sleep is vital for the quick healing process, but I guess we are just lumps of meat to them.

So sorry to read about your married friends complaining about their husbands. That must have been so upsetting. They have no idea how bad that can make you feel when you miss your partner so much.

Another here who’s pleased to hear Tony is still with us.
Jane that ward sounds dreadful. I hope you get out of there soon. Is everything healing ok?
Right I’ve put a new bottle of Brandy on the seat by the swamp. Liz I’ll be keeping an eye on you
I’m just off to hospital for knee X-ray and blood test. It’s a place I used to take my husband a lot. I’m not looking forward to being there again. Hope to get in and out quickly.
Have a good afternoon all.
Lizzzzz that bottles for tonight.
Love Lucy xx

I don’t know if it’s the impending six months anniversary and clocks going back on Sunday that’s dragging me down today, but I feel quite low and unsettled.
