CREATING A SHRINE FOR MY MAM

I couldn’t get into Black Summer and I am a zombie addict! In fact if it wasn’t for The Walking Dead and going to the Walker Stalker Convention I’d have a lot fewer pictures of mum as she was a sod for avoiding the camera

I really need to get my act together and water my plants tomorrow. I’ll try and make that my task for tomorrow and report back here!

Hi Beki,

I enjoyed the first couple of episodes of Black Summer but then it was pretty much background noise as really didn’t leave me gripped x

Ahhh love Eugene lol x but if you have met Norman Reedus then I fear we must part company :joy::joy: x

I’m just booked for a comic Con in Edinburgh in Oct so will see who I can stalk lol x

Great photos xx

It was great meeting you Suzanne :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Not only did we meet Norman, he hugged us but during our meet Stephen Ogg interrupted. Norman signed a photo for us to Sue + Beki but because of the + so near the Sue it looks like Suet Beki  I know I’m chunky but really!!

A friend got this pic of us as it all happened. I was cosplaying Shaun of the Dead and later beat Stephen Ogg up with my foam cricket bat for cockblocking me with Norman. We had a right laugh!

Just have to quickly reply and will reply more later but oh my god Beki! I’m with Suzanne about Norman! I bet that was amazing! I love the walking dead but I’ve not watched the last season yet. Was waiting til I could maybe concentrate a bit more. Love those photos! Am a tiny bit jealous!

I burst out laughing at the ‘Suet’. Hilarious! You are a lucky girl! Love Norman. Wish he didn’t hide under all that hair and cap. Did you see the docu where he rides around visiting places on his bike? Was on Prime before covid. Can’t remember what it’s called.
Always lovely to pics. Want to dye my hair pink but it’s already falling out. Not sure if it’s the stress.
How are you feeling today? I’m in calm waters again after the storm. Hoping the creep goes to the street party so I can get in my garden. Need to rescue Spring bulbs after all the rain. Hope they haven’t rotted. I’m always just in limbo when I’m stuck in the house. Can’t focus so I watch films and do puzzles. I create textile wall hangings from recycled materials but can’t get back to it. It’s like if I do that life is back to normal, even though they say art is therapeutic. Love your glass art your mam did. Beautiful!

Hi Nic,
I’m feeling a lot better than was but thank you for reaching out to me. I’m back to calmer waters again but the creep is at home and I hope he goes to the street party so I can get in the garden. I was just saying to Beki how I feel in limbo in the house.
Have you seen Fear of the Walking Dead? That’s good too. Watched all of the W.D. Love a zombie film and anything end of the world. I think with my anxiety and panic I’d be fine tuned for survival !
Have you sorted anything for the Jubilee? I’m ignoring it, including tv. Just can’t go there because it reminds me of old parties and imagining what we would be doing if mam was still here.

Hi everyone,
One thing that sends me hiding behind a cushion is scarry films, don’t do horror, zombie or occult films, I’m such a wuss. :scream: If Doug wanted to watch them he had to wait until I went to bed :joy:
Give me a good old Disney film.

I thought a blackbird baby had been abandoned on my lawn, but been watching from a distance and it’s mother keeps going back to feed it. Good excuse not to cut the grass.

Speak to you later

Hi Suzanne,
Badger is adorable! But does remind me of my rat situation in the loft!!! They never turned up or contacted me for repairing the outside wall. Was so annoyed. But that’s the council for you.
Good luck with your badger spotting on Sat. I bet they hide until they get to know you. Looking forward to the pics. I wish I could volunteer somewhere but I would panic and run off. I know I would.
You really don’t have to spend £25 on a rose. Look online at J Parkers. You can get a collection of 6 scented roses for £20. That’s what I did. And all different colours and types. Mine have growth on them already. It’s best to plant in the Spring and Autumn. Think I’ll have to plant dad’s roses that I had potted on for him because we’d gone halves and there was other summer bedding too. Haven’t heard from him and I don’t think I ever will again.
I can hear the bustle of neighbours mowing their lawns in prep for the parties. Hope the creep buggars off to the street party so I can get in the garden. Ignoring everything that is going on just so I can get through this Jubilee holiday. I feel quite numb now after being so upset.
Enjoy Sat. and post lots of pics. We’ll all be thinking of you.

Hi Debbie,
I had to stop feeding my birds because of the rats in the loft. I used to get everything - robins, sparrows, blue tits, starlings, magpies, pigeons, doves, jays, crows (pinched the cat food). They used to make such a racket and always fighting. It’s such a shame because the squirrels used to also come to feed and pinch the fat balls. My little robins still follow me round the garden but don’t see any of the others. Here’s some pics

Did you enjoy your bbq? I’ll be avoiding the street party and hope I can get in the garden if my creepy neighbour goes. Mam would have her flags out now and be preparing a bbq in the old garden. I would be dashing in and out with bowls of crisps and salad now. I remember the last bbq we had the Heavens opened and we were drenched! Had to run inside with anything we could grab. Wish time could stand still, like in a film, so we could return to enjoy the bits we love. Haven’t heard from any of my family. I’m sure they will be celebrating without me, like the Sunday dinners dad was invited to and I knew nothing about it. I feel so abandoned by my family. You are such a kind person to take your neighbour to the party. I bet she is so grateful to have you as her friend.
Enjoy whatever you do today, even if it is just sitting in your lovely garden watching the babies spread their wings. Hope to tidy mine up a bit and rescue my Spring bulbs.

Hi Christine .
Absolutely love the bird pictures. The Jay is beautiful. I get magpies, crows, sparrows, blue tits, sometimes the robin but mostly pigeons. The pigeons know me so well and when I feed them . When I make breakfast they are always waiting for theirs :joy:.
Another difficult day for us all. As my counselling doesnt resume until Monday I will make a call to Cruse as talking really helps me and I’ll be OK then the rest of the weekend ( hopefully).
I dont blame you for not wanting to watch the jubilee . I think it’s our Mum’s generation how they were brought up to like anything to do with royalty and pageantry. Having said that if our Mums were still here then we would all be watching too instead of trying to escape it all.
Hope the rest if your day isn’t too bad for you
Sending love and best wishes

Hi Neil,
I really cannot escape the noise in the street. It’s like something out of Shameless! I’m going to see if I can watch Black Summer on a Netflix trial (Suzanne suggested it).
I do miss joining mam in her celebration of the royals. Dad hates anything royal. But I love getting dressed up and celebrating anything. I’ll wear a new dress and hope mam can see me. Don’t want to start crying again. Was in the bath and felt a breeze on my cheek. Thought it was mam and burst out crying. Turned out to be a baby daddy long leg.
I feel like I’m not living at all, having retreated from life. The effort it takes to even think about sending a text to my sister up north or my niece is too much and I just tumble back into that place of doing nothing.
I’m dreading this evening if the drinking carries on with the anti social bunch opposite. It’s so hard to ignore. The creep is still at home so have resigned myself to just staying inside.
Do you have anything planned? Making your calls really is a lifeline for you and I know you will have to wait until Monday but you know you have that in a couple of days, however bad it feels now. Have you seen your lovely neighbour at all? Just wondered if the little boy had made anything at school for the Jubilee. I loved arts and crafts when I was little.
Glad you enjoyed the birds pics. I really miss them with all their chatter. My thriving garden is so quiet without them and the baby squirrels running along the fence back to their nest.
This long weekend is going to feel like a lifetime. At least Suzanne is escaping it with her thing on Sat. Hope she sees a honey badger. It will make her day! Haven’t heard from Tina in a while. I hope she’s ok.
Right, going to make another cuppa and see what I can watch. Whatever you do bear in mind we are all probably thinking of each other throughout the day and so we aren’t as alone as we feel. I certainly feel alone but always will now without mam. I could be at the most beautiful party and still be crying for her. I would get her little Jubilee hat out from my bed drawer but it would upset me too much. I could put it with her shrine and just stay in the bedroom to avoid seeing it. I hate this so much. It’s all too upsetting. I want to do stuff for her because it’s what she would have done but I just can’t do it.

Hi Christine x

Will defo look at J Parker then…guessing they are roots rather than established rose plants then if you get that many for that price x

Would you say they are better than David Austin for price and/or quality?

Love the photos of the birds especially the jay…would you believe it I have never seen one in real life :woman_shrugging: x I get the odd goldfinch in the garden but nowadays it’s mostly tits (and this time I’m not talking about the neighbours lol), sparrows (or as we call them Spuggies), blackbirds and various corvids x I’m like you had to stop feeding them though cause of rodent infestation x

Have you got in to the garden today at all? It’s nice a warm up here just now but too hot to water the plants so will wait til later when it’s cooler x

Just seen what you said to Neil about Creep not going out  x

Hope your inner peace has lasted and chat soon :green_heart: x

Hi Neil,

Hope your call to Cruse today helps you through this weekend and that can’t wait to see what you decide on for tomorrow x.

My plans for today were postponed as my friend wasn’t feeling too well but didn’t sleep too well myself so took the opportunity to sleep in a little…turn a negative into a positive lol x

My mum wasn’t a massive Royal fan as a whole but she did like the Queen and Prince Harry for some reason…she got so annoyed at him getting married to Meghan Markle lol x. Her and myself often had a heated debate about the monarchy lol x

Now that Christine mentioned it has your lovely neighbour being doing anything? x

Chat soon :heartpulse: xx

Hi Debbie

If it’s the Lion King then I agree :joy: x
I like the older Disney films but not so much the newer ones…think Toy Story is as modern as I like but that’s only cause I love the wee three eyed aliens…got one as a tattoo I love them that much :joy: x. Oh aye I have a Nemo tattoo aswell lol x

Is you wee Blackbird still there? x
Are you enjoying the jubilee celebrations? Apart from one or two restaurants in town you wouldn’t even know it was happening up here :woman_shrugging: x

Enjoy your day xx

Well as it’s approaching 5pm I suppose I should get up. To be fair I moved from bed to mums bedroom. Just been lying, dozing with the radio on. It’s ten weeks today

My wilderness garden outside - well my neighbour has been in today and hacked it all back and mowed the lawn which hasn’t been mown for over two years!!

Hiya,
Didn’t get in the garden at all. Lots of noise from outside so partying still going on. Just watched a couple of zombie films.
The J Parkers are bare root but once you get them in they are good quality. I do have David Austins too and they really have taken very well. Tons of new growth and buds from xmas planting. They were pressies though. I just won’t pay £29 per rose.
Glad you have had lovely weather. Wish I could get out there. Porscha won’t come in so she’s obviously enjoying sunbathing.
Just want today to end.

Hi Suzanne
Couldnt phone Cruse as I had forgotten their phone lines close at 2pm on bank holidays as well as weekends. I might phone CALM for a change later on.
I do see my neighbour sometimes and the little boy is so sweet . He was special to Mum.
Still planning my trip to London tomorrow.I had picked an event weeks ago then I went off it as I thought I wouldn’t be able to handle it. Now I really want to go but there’s only expensive seats left. A return popped up on the website just now but went again .
Speak soon
Love and best wishes

Hi Beki,
I’ve been in bed watching zombie films. Just want it over with. Still partying going on outside.
You do have a good neighbour! Are you going to get him a little something for doing it? Box of chocs? You could set him to work then on all your tasks!
Keep going. It’s really shit and all we can do is fill in the time until it ends.
I haven’t had any calls or texts from my family. It’s like I don’t exist. Got dressed but that’s it.
Might see if Porsch wants her tea. She wouldn’t come in earlier.
