I will try. Hopefully it will work but even that one occasion this morning really lifted my spirits.

My experience was completely unexpected. I was in the florist a week before Mum’s funeral. My partner was standing behind me and the florist and I were facing each other, talking through the arrangements. A male customer came into the shop and left. As the door went, I briefly turned as it felt like someone walked in as he left but no-one was there. The florist and I were talking and she suddenly turned as if to tell a customer that she would not be long. I then turned and I saw a female figure become visible, slowly emerge through the air. She then moved to stand just behind as if to try to overhear our conversation. She was not dressed in the clothes that my Mum would wear. Mum always wore pretty dresses and the lady was wearing trousers. I kept looking and then I looked into her eyes and they were the eyes of my Mum. She kept looking straight ahead like she was pretending to be a customer. She realised that I was looking and as she did she then moved as if to go through the back of the shop. As she moved she faded through the air. I turned back towards the florist and she opened her mouth in shock and asked if I saw this. The florist spoke first about what had happened. I replied that it was a woman standing there and as she moved she disappeared. She said it was her sister and I said it was my Mum. The florist said that she saw something but that I saw more. I turned and asked my partner and he said that definietly we both experiened something between us. I asked him if he saw and he didn’t as he said that he was not facing that way. I cannot explain it. I was not emotional. I was just dealing with arrangements. I know one thing that it was a real.

Definitely real. Me and mam believed in the spirit world. Dad didn’t. Both of us ,plus my brother when we lived in an old terraced house in the 60s and early 70s, knew it was haunted. We all saw things but nobody we knew.
After we moved and not in the second house we moved into, we continued to have experiences. People over the years when we told them if it came up in conversation, mainly treated it with sceptism. However, when you have seen things, you have seen things. We don’t make it up to get attention.
Like I said, I was happy ,but a bit emotional after seeing mam. It didnt happen again today unfortunately.
Hope you are keeping okay. The same here. I am trying but still breaking down in tears on occasions. Thanks for sharing your own personal experience. God bless and best wishes. Stephen
How lovely, I am longing to see, feel something like this, I so need to know that Andrew forgives me & would take this as a welcome sign x
@Stephen65 and everyone.
I think it is possible to try too hard to repeat these events. It seems they often occur when we least expect it.
My experience and Stephen65’s started when we were half asleep but faded when we realised what was happening and inadvertently reconnected to our earthly world.
Looking back to Wilson9’s interesting post about Robert A Monroe’s development of Audio-Guidance Technology we can see how sound waves were used to synchronise the mind for psychic exploration. His ‘Hemi-Sync’ system focused the participant’s mind to the exclusion of everything else.
I think this is where meditation could help, enabling us to ignore noise from our current environment and concentrate on higher things.
I read an article about a Neuroscientist at Stanford University who now believes the centre of consciousness is not in the human brain. He thinks consciousness is beamed into a receiver in our mind from elsewhere. Our consciousness, or maybe soul, could therefore reside in Heaven, or the Universe, or be part of the Celestial Love Energy that has been described in so many Near Death Experiences. If this is so then the very essence of our departed loved ones is exactly where it always has been and, indeed, so is ours! If we can get onto the right frequency, free from distraction, we should be able to make contact.
Of course these are just my ideas based on what I have read, there could be thousands of explanations. One thing is certain though, the knowledge and technology of the Universe is vast and we understand very little of it.
Take care everyone.
Great post @RJay.
They say that we need to be in a receptive state before we can feel the connection. We need to find that quiet place, deep inside ourselves, beneath the constant chatter of the ego. This can be achieved through meditation, during sleeping or going into or coming out of sleep.
I found this on YouTube this morning, which might be helpful to some.
Thank you @Wilson9 , that works!
I was getting a little worried after saying “I wonder what my next thought will be” for the third time because nothing came to mind. It was only at the end when she told us that clearing our thoughts was the purpose!
I find posting on this website very therapeutic and use it to analyse my own thoughts. I am often quite surprised when I read a post back and see what I have put. It’s almost as though it has been written by someone else.
Thank you once again for the video. I will go and find her YouTube channel.
Thank you so much Wilson9.Its making that “Connection “ i find so difficult. My mind too full of worry, grief, upset i think is a lot of the problem.Thank you again.
Thanks for posting @brummy.
I can understand why you find it difficult. I wrestle with these emotions every day. If I meditate regularly I can manage to stay in a good phase for a few days but it’s not all good news and I still have bad phases. I feel at least I’m managing to achieve a balance between the two which is better than the alternative.
I put this together this morning for you in an attempt to articulate some of the thoughts that are in my head.
I’m trying to move forward by accepting the concept that we are connected to our loved ones on two levels. First is the conscious, physical level in which most of us have spent a lifetime using our five senses to connect to our loved ones. This connection was so easy, so familiar, so available and so accessible to most of us. Second is the unconscious, spiritual level, which is a complete mystery to most of us. It’s a place that feels so unfamiliar, so unavailable and so inaccessible because most of us have never felt the need to use it. This is the realm where our unconscious remains connected to the souls of our loved ones by eternal, invisible love bonds that even death cannot destroy. This is why we use the term soulmate.
Death has severed the physical connection we had and we know that clinging to something that no longer exists will only cause suffering. Our unconscious is the place where we remain connected to our loved ones but it will require a lot of time, patience, practice and discipline to access it. It means taking a deep dive to that quiet, still, peaceful place which can be found beneath the incessant chatter of the ego. They say the best way to achieve this is through regular meditation and during the different stages of sleep. It is then that the hold of the conscious mind loosens its grip and the unconscious begins to whisper. Souls communicate in symbols, thoughts, synchronicities and dreams so, we have to learn to communicate with them in a new way.
I’ve just read what I’ve written and, even to me, it does sound far-fetched. Maybe it is, but I’m just trying to explore different avenues in an attempt to make the unbearable a little more bearable. I hope it makes some kind of sense.
@Wilson9
Thank you so much for this excellent post. It was just what I needed today.
As time goes on I get more and more comfort from the spiritual level and am keen to learn as much about it as I can.
Wilson9
Thank you so much for your reply. It is so interesting what you have said and so true too.I have read various books on spirit, angels, heaven and all have been really interesting and make really good points.I will have to try harder with meditation. Its trying to “clear” my mind of clutter, worry, upset, i find so hard.I have a very demanding job physically, i come home worn out, back to the empty house then everything kicks in again , losing my dear wife so suddenly, the guilt, the upset, all the things associated with grief.A lot of the books i read seem to make things sound so easy but i find it really difficult but i wont give up, i will keep trying.I really do appreciate your posts and messages and what you put together.I like to think there is more to life than we know about.Thank you again.
Take care.
I love what you wrote here! I definitely believe that too, that when they get to the other side, they have started actively working, and sending healing to us.
My mind is a swirl of discordant thoughts that don’t stop, but the times when I can sit in silence and tune in, I can feel the energies of both my parents.
I love what Wilson9 wrote too.It brings me some comfort. Its the trying to “connect” i find so difficult.trying to find the time, the moment from the mad, manic , worrying world we live in ,i have a very full on relentless manual job, combined with my grieving and worries its so hard to clear my mind.Bedtime and evening i try but so often bedtime i cry myself to sleep, other times i try to just sit in silence then fall asleep. There have been times i have felt my wifes spirit through”signs”then other times nothing at all.I do think there is a Bigger picture to what we know.I have often read that our life on this earth is a spiritual being having a human experience.I often think about all the worries and pain and upset and grief we have , maybe that is all part of our life on this earth, to learn and gain knowledge, to experience these emotions.Maybe life on this earth is not meant to be smooth, having all our wishes granted.I ask myself these questions many times and the one big question i ask is WHY? my dear wife was taken from me, so loving, caring, kind and gentle,it always seems the best people taken from us.maybe one day we will find that answer.
Take care.
Too true. I feel that too. My beautiful loving mam. We lived together 60 years. 6 weeks ago today she passed away. I get angry sometimes about how unfair it all is when I see people my age with their mums.
God bless and best wishes. Stephen
Hi @Stephen65
Death has ended the conscious, physical connection you had with your mam but this does not mean that the relationship you had with her has been completely severed; you remain connected to her on an unconscious, spiritual level. She is still there, in a different form, right beside you trying her best to guide you, inspire you and lessen the pain of loss until you learn how to make a new connection with her without the body to see, hear and touch.
Thanks for posting @brummy.
You have a physically demanding job so, this must be really difficult for you. I retired 10 years ago so, I’ve been able to dedicate more time to grief than you have. There are no easy answers. You just have to keep trying different things until you find out what works for you.
I guess these are some of the questions we should be asking ourselves. Are we identifying with who they were or with what they’ve become? Are we honouring them right now or are we holding them hostage? Are we remembering them, or are we refusing to let them go? There’s a profound difference. One is love, the other is fear disguised as love and they can feel the difference from where they are.
Everyone, who has lost someone they love, has a grief story they tell themselves. What story are you telling yourself? Would things improve if you changed the story?
Thank you for your lovely words. If I think of it, being together for 60 years creates such a close bond that as you say, mam will always be with me. To guide me, look after me and lessen my pain. God bless and your support and guidance means a lot to me.
Best wishes. Stephen.
Hi Wilson9,
I just came across your post and then read others of yours. I’m interested after two dreams or visitations in the early stages of my grief. I read Signs by Laura Lynn Jackson and watched Dr Tara Swart on podcast called diary of a ceo and have just got her book The signs.
The second dream frightened me and now I don’t dream but will hear his favourite music and white feathers some days but is that coincidence and does it really matter in the grief journey.
I have been reading your posts and find them fascinating. My mum was very spiritual. I also believe we have somebody guiding us though out our life.to many things have happened to me for it to be dismissed. I have had many dreams of family members.including my husband who didn’t believe in any of it . The one person who I never dreamt of is my late sister. She knew some of it frightened me so that’s why I think she’s never appeared in a dream to me . I once meet a healer quite by chance when I was having a really difficult time . The things he told me came true . I have never seen him since .
