Good luck with the latches Catherine. I cry at all the things that challenge us now but know it’s up to me to fix. The thing I find frustrating is getting anyone in to help. My boiler needs servicing but when I contacted the fella that has always done it he wouldn’t come as he didn’t do pre sale services. I got home this morning to a cold damp house, no heating. Luckily it was just the batteries in the hive thing. All the lawns look like a field but my brother in law has the strimmers to fix and it’s too wet. Time to wonder around and see what else needs attention.
Setting up Power of Attorney seems to be relatively easy. I was expecting that people would have to sign forms here. The solicitor is a nice young lady called Rhianne. She is going to be my Certificate Provider, so at least she thinks I am currently competent
Well done John it something I must do when the house is sorted. I’m glad the solicitor was nice. Hope you’ve something interesting planned for the rest of the day x
I’ve been trying to clean up some audio files that Jackie recorded of my band 60 years ago in the Church Hall where her ashes are interred. I’ve done 4 files with another 9 to do. So I’ll do some more
Morning Catherine
I hope you managed to get everything sorted it is so frustrating isn’t.
It took me 3 attempts to get a plug for my kitchen sink .
I measured it order the plug it arrived wouldn’t fit . Got my son to measure it and thought this time it will fit .Bit no it didn’t fit it is only a few years since I had my kitchen done .so i contact the manufacturer of the sink they sent me a link by email to order a new plug . Finally a sink plug that fitted .
@Johnr
I have done a new will and a power of attorney since my husband died
Sorting my husband’s estate out has been a nightmare. I didn’t want my family to go through that again when my time comes .
I also did through the solicitor as I was using her for my husband’s estate .
It now over a year now and it still not finalised.
Hope your goes through smoothly
I did a new will and both pows in the summer. It was on my list and eventually felt I could face it. It was expensive at the solicitors but I just could not face dealing with any more official paperwork. It went through ok, still waiting for Lpa to be back but should be soon. When I can face it I hope to make a simple box file with everything in. Executors can just pick that up. Not sure I can find motivation yet but maybe one day. If not, I won’t be here anyway.
Hi @Katherine20
I have bought a box file and put everything together even my birth certificate. As I know when my time comes my son won’t be thinking straight. I have tried to make it as easy as possible for them.
They know where the box is they have called it the doomsday box .
Had a tiring day, the end of which I did an online Sainsbury’s order. God, what palaver. Ocado is much easier, but I was persuaded by a ‘friend’ to use Sainsburys.
I think if I dare say it without offending anyone but you dear John are a supermarket snob.
There is no problem with ordering online with Sainsburys it was just being your first one you had to set it up and you need to set your preferences for no substitutes. I still maintain it’s a lot cheaper than Waitrose or Ocardo.
Anyway whichever company you use it saves you going yourself which would cost more as you put extras in your trolley
Anyway night night well and hope all goes well tomorrow
Yes I prefer Waitrose and would shop there if we had one, but we haven’t.
Next nearest best for me is Sainsbury’s. I didn’t like the Asda we went into, but the socks I bought were nice, not as good as M&S but ok. I didn’t see any underwear I liked, so I’ll buy more next time I’m in Cambridge.
The ordering experience on Sainsbury’s was a bit iffy. Yes it was my first one, but it wasn’t as good as Ocado. When I get used to the app, which I downloaded, it’ll get better
Well done for ordering online, I’ve yet to try it. I think we all know who that friend might be. I hope you have a peaceful evening and sleep well tonight x
And good company too. It is my Saint day next month so don’t forget my present
My Italian family used to always send me a gift my mum did it then Vic but now sadly no one left to remember. It’s not that I wanted something it’s just the tradition ending that’s sad
