I seem to be coming down with a bug. Woke up feeling sick but went ahead and cut the grass.

Just forced myself to eat something and am going to bed shortly.

10 years ago my son was flying to US and was surprised to see his old man on the Graham Norton Show being shown on the in flight entertainment.

I’m the old blighter on the left

Morning all. It’s been a cold night. 4c when I got up and hour or so ago and it’s only 6 now. Done a washing machine load and it’s hung out to dry or freeze.

Also finished of my guitar restring and polish so I can put it away. For those into guitars, it’s a Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Reissue I bought new in Feb 2010. It was made in late 2009 and the colour is Washed Cherry. The rare_ish thing about this guitar is that it is a one piece top. Most are book-matched.

Try to have as good a day as you can. :hugs:

I used my new double stack air fryer tonight to cook two components of my tea that had different temperatures and times.

Ok it was only a Charlie Bigham Lasagne and chips, but I managed to set it that they both finished at the same time. I think Jackie would have been proud of me.

Next step will be to cook four things, but I think they have to be cooked in pairs, i.e the pairs have to have the same cooking time and temperature.

Well done John. I’ve had an air fryer for a couple of years now, it lives under the sink. I think you should be proud of yourself, I’ve not even switched mine on x

No room under my sink Helen

Seriously you should try it. I wish I had bought one when Jackie was still with me

Morning All

Not really an interest but since my Vic passed I have to sort the things that need fixing in the house by doing them myself or getting someone in.

I have a list of jobs my brother says he will come and help but I hate having to ask. I’m sure those of you on here know that feeling?

It makes me cry when I get frustrated with myself for not being able to know or do something that I know my Vic would have just done.

Today I need to go out to return some door latches as I got the wrong ones. I’ve now removed one from the door to take so I know what I should have got. What I thought was strange I brought the door handles and the box said with all fittings but when I opened the box it didn’t have the latches. Anyway I’m going back this morning to hopefully get the right ones so the job can be done.

My bath panel needs fixing and I want to get a blind put up in my spare bedroom but I think that will be a handyman job.

There are always jobs to do around the house. Doing it myself would be cheaper but if I bodge it up it will cost more to make it right I guess.

People that haven’t lost their other half don’t realise that jobs that they shared are all on us now and like I say I get upset doing the jobs he did.

I’ll keep you posted

I can’t believe the amount of stupid little things that keep breaking etc since Pete died.

I am not Mrs DIY. We had our roles in our relationship, quite male female but it worked. He didn’t do finance or waahing etc!

I do wonder now like me he just did these little things without saying or I just didn’t notice. But if it were the other way round he’d be dealing with my quiet little jobs too.

SOME little things have really brought me to my knees. But I now google everything, try if I can when I am able, if not do the almost walk of shame to ask someone or I put on back burner. Think to myself I don’t live in a mud hut, fetching my water it really isn’t such a big thing really!

Morning Catherine
I hope you managed to get everything sorted it is so frustrating isn’t.
It took me 3 attempts to get a plug for my kitchen sink .
I measured it order the plug it arrived wouldn’t fit . Got my son to measure it and thought this time it will fit .Bit no it didn’t fit it is only a few years since I had my kitchen done . Do i contact the manufacturer of the sink they sent me a link by email to order a new plug . Finally a sink plug that fitted .

Been raining overnight but dry at the moment. It’s still coldish at 9, so heating is coming on through the schedule.

Off to town shortly to see a solicitor about setting up a power of attorney. I know you can do it online, but I don’t mind paying more to get it right. After that, who knows.

Take care and have a good day.

I know exactly how you feel! Those little jobs that need doing seem to gang up on you, I have some good friends who will help but I don’t want to pester them. I quite like a bit of DIY but my problem is I’m not built for it, I’m only 5ft tall and a bit weedy :slightly_smiling_face: and anything involving lifting or reaching is beyond me, so frustrating, but I give it a go anyway. Sometimes I console myself by thinking that if the roles had been reversed my husband would have been completely at sea with the washing machine and the computer.

Yes I am vertical challenged too!

I now have my trusty step ladders at hand at all times!

Sounds like we are the same. Hubby no good on computers and never switched the washing machine on! But that was fine, we toddled along quite content in our roles! It worked!
