How’s your Day Going Today?

Dear Lucy, good morning to you!

I‘m managing, I‘m soldiering on as that’s my only option.

My beloved Fanny is looking out for me from Heaven, patiently awaiting our reunion, which will be for eternity.

Meanwhile I want Fanny to be proud of me and I want to do things the way Fanny would have wanted.

Dear Lucy, please take good care of yourself and if that condition you’re describing persists please seek medical advice.

May God bless, protect, guide and comfort you!

Kind regards - Joe

@Katherine20 you’re slightly further on the awful journey than I am, it was 2 1/2years for me last Sunday. I completely agree with what you’re saying about every day. When I lost my wife I still had my Mum who needed her me to do her shopping etc, she had a stroke in 2015 which took a lot of her voice & understanding and took away a lot of her mobility. She passed away 51weeks after Rachel almost to the minute. Now I can go days without speaking to someone in person, I usually here from my in-laws every few days, neither of them are in good health. Today I’ve seen my next door neighbour, haven’t seen him for a few days. Rachel was only just 50 when I lost her, her birthday was 4days before, I try to do things that we enjoyed. I still go the theatre and I enjoy it whilst there but thats as long as the joy lasts, there’s no chatting about it on the way home. Meal times are lonely a make myself eat even though I don’t really want to. My bugalow is a mess, I’ve got boxes everywhere of Mum’s stuff, as I had to clear her house as quickly as possible as it was rented.

Today’s been a very up & down day this morning I didn’t want to get up, I still felt so tired, I made myself take Mum’s mobility walkers, there’s 6 of them, outside to take pictures of them, so I can list them on ebay, I also took pictures of Rachel’s one to list that aswell. I’ve managed to stack them all back where they were, not aswell but they’re back. That’s the bit that’s made me nervous about doing that as there’s no where else to put them, but they’re back. That’s cheered me up slightly, as it’s a job I’ve been needing to do for about 18months but was scared they wouldn’t go back where they were. I’m in agony now my shoulders & my back, I’ve taken my ‘break through’ pain killer, I just hope it hasn’t kick in yet.

Time to go and make dinner now, I’ve got a salad to get tonight.

Hello Katharine 20. I was struck by your comment that we all seem to be doing OK. I like you I’m in my third year since my man died and like you I didn’t I don’t count the first 18 months really as I was also numb then I collapsed physically and it took a long time before I began properly to grieve. I don’t want to be discouraging, but I also wanted to dispel the notion that I’m OK. Sometimes I am and sometimes I’m definitely not. Beset by anxiety or even fear, however unreasonable . What I have worked my way towards is finding a small number of people who are genuine with whom I feel able to engage. Like you I’m on pretty much on my own also, though I must mention my sweet little poppet of a dog. Really I just wanted to say I’m with you in your struggle. As I’m sure is everyone else in this wonderful forum.

I’ve had quite a good day. I went shopping with my daughter. It’s her birthday on Wednesday and she wanted a new handbag. It was something just the 2 of us would have done anyway so felt ‘normal’ if that makes sense. I have my first counselling session tomorrow.
